Default TRD springs...and shocks?

So I've decided to go with the TRD springs, because I want a slight, subtle drop to improve the asthetics with the new wheels. As I understand it, the springs will also help improve the handling very slightly. Good deal, right?

My question is, what reason would I have to install the TRD shocks at the same time? Theoretically, the springs and shocks sould be designed to work together, possibly achieving a synergistic effect when improving the handling features of the car, right? If that's the case, it's definitely worth it. What do ya'll think?

i have the TRD springs without the shocks, the shocks would however be softer with a higher rebound rate so it just give you higher performance and a better ride, worth buying if you have extra cash to dish out, im 18 so i couldnt really afford the whole package

In my personal opinion, if you want an excellent handling car and good riding characteristics, an update on the shocks/struts are must.

Performance shocks/struts are designed for a lower ride height since they are stiffer and built with performance in mind. They allow for tighter turns and help to reduce body roll. They do come at a cost for ride comfort as they are stiffer the ride may become harsh over the worst surfaces.

Another thing to keep in mind is that lowering a car on stock shocks/strut can cause them to wear faster and may cause premature failure since the amount of compression on the dampening components have changed. Factory shocks only like to compress to a certain point and a one inch drop will increase the amount compression on the shocks. Don't be alarmed though most decent factory shocks will last anywhere from 7500-10000 miles before needing to be replaced depending on how you drive and how severe the drop is.

If you have the money up front I say go for it! The combination of the TRD springs and TRD shocks will make for one hell of a ride on a twisty road! If you can afford both at the same time, the TRD shocks cam come later.

As for me when it comes time for the suspension mods it will be an Eibach 1.7" drop with TRD springs and Hotchkis swaybars that will be kickass!

I have the TRD springs + shocks installed and i think they work great together. If you have the money to get them both at the same time, go for it.

Just did both spring and shocks yesterday under rain and sun in the great northwest. Ride improved and subtle rebounds were nice compared to stocks, did not notice much harsh ride, even the wife said it is better than before, good luck

My TRD dampers make my car handle a lot better. I've got a 2" drop. I rode the stock dampers until one of them blew, then switched to TRD and I'm glad I did.

I had the TRD springs and struts before I switched to air. They lower the car a little make it ride nicer, thats about it. as far as handling goes, it didnt do much...

I only have the springs, but I like'm. I didn't want to go too low because I travel alot and didn't want to deal with driveway issues if any.

I'm only riding on the TRD springs and they improve the overall feel of the car along with looks. I'm sure the struts would help even more but I dont think there necessary.

I had goldlines on stock shocks for almost 30k miles so the stocks shocks are pretty much done with. I just got myself some TRD shocks and I'll let you know if I can notice a difference. I'm planning on installing them in a week or so. First time I'm ever installing shocks by myself so I'm hoping that it will be pretty easy I'm hoping for better handling and a softer ride.
