when you say strut bar, you mean the front strut tower brace? And do you mean by performance or just looks? I happen to like the way the Hotchkis looks b/c it's metal and not anodized, but I drive a Phantom Grey so it works for me..

yeah but the hotchkis bar doesn't do anything really.................you need support on the underside since the top part of the car is solid already............

Well in that case, not only does Hotchkis do nothing, but so does all the other strut bars. Can't wait till Hotchkis comes out with the sway bar tho =)

i've heard back and forth as to whether that top mounted strut bar will do anything since the towers are so close to the firewall. By their opinion, and my curiousity, I would imagine that idea is right, that being so close to a rigid horizontal piece it is unlikely to flex that much..

but then I also hear the same thing about under carriage reinforcements.. I'm trying to deduce why the undercarriage would flex anymore or less than up top and my conclusion is that the "tunnel" that runs up and down the car has no rigid horizontal reinforcement and hence the need for some additional..

trial and error is the name of the game at this point...

Okay,

Please correct me if I am wrong. I think the strut bar looks good. Good work Randode. However, based on what I have read it seems to me that it only looks good and serves no real purpose based on what was said in the previous posts. What do y'all think?

i can feel a difference with it. It does feel more secure durring hard cornering (like the fwy onramp at 60 mph)

are you talking trash on randode's crap?

strut bars actually do help in cornering because even though the firewall is fairly supportive, the strut towers have side to side flex that is greatly reduced when you put a bar from one end to the other. it totally works.

i have the JIC aluminum one and after i installed it, my front end was tighter than a catholic school girl.

This is the one I like :

http://www.veilside.com/veilsideusa/frames.html

The guy at Veilside said it won't work on an xA, but they make stuff for Toyota, so it should fit, right?

I am not talking trash whatsoever. Do I sound like I am? I don't mean to.

Tighter than a catholic school girl? interesting comparison!

Question for randode - what are the measuments for your strut bar (ie. left tower bolts measured to right tower bolts and tower bolt pattern)... I would like to know so can compare to my Echo - see if Scion bars fit or may have to make my own... TRD bars are way toooo expensive

According to my G-tech pro, Randode Racing Strut bar increased handling by at least 10%-20%.
