Default To dub or not to dub...

So Im at a speed shop over the weekend. The guy tells me not to put anything over an 18" rim under my xb. And even with an 18" rim he would have to trim the wheel wells. Okay now i've seen an xb with 20's under it at the dealer. Whats up whos right the dealer or this jack in the box?

you can fit 20s depending on tires, offset, and drop. but i would be safe and do 18s or 19s. 20s look outta place on such a small vehicle. so yea, they will fit but you will have to do a lot of modifying to tuck 20s. 18s... you might have to trim a very little, but most dont at all. stick with 18s or 19s IMO. hell drop down to some Work 15s or 16s. They look tight too!

20's will fit but it's not a straight bolt on in most cases. You'll probably need to roll the fender, at the very least.

stick with 19's they look large but not goofishly so like 20's and they fit better too. the biggest factor is the size of the tire and width of the wheel.

do 20's if you want, dont drop it more than 1 inch use a 215/30/20 tire and a 20 by 7.5 inch rim and youll only need to do a little trimming im upgrading from my 19 to 20 next summer, tis, motegi and limited wheels all have 20x7.5 wheels, and nitto is supposed to be making a neo gen in that size and bfg already does but there pricey. pm me if you want to know more, good luck

No...hes not an idiot. I'm getting 15s, and they will actually probably rub in the back. Watch before you start talking bad. Depends on the size of the tire bud.
Just because someone does not pay twice what they should by buying from the stupid dealer, does not make them an idiot. It was kinda uncalled for considering you offer absolutely NO help.

if you want to run 20's then go for it. from what i understand theres some metal work and removing of inner fenders to do but its possible. its all about what you want to do.

ahhh yeah gotta go with the dubs. :D

There is a small square frame in the back of the front fender that needs a good pounding before you can start rolling on the dubs. But after that no more rubbing issues. :D

Roll the fenders, airhammer the firewall, remove the inner fender liners, don't drop it too much and you won't have any problems.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Im still undecided though. I'll probably go safe with the 18's . And thanks for the info on tire size. You all rock!

Listen man... im not trying to start stuff. He didnt say anywhere in his post about getting a big tire, and i didnt pay twice as much for the wheels from the factory... i didnt even want the 18's since i am planning on putting 20s on it within the next few weeks. It came like that when i bought it (i bought a demo model). And i wasnt even talking bad about the guy on the board, but the person at the shop.

20's are cool dont get me wrong, but the best way it to go with 19's. I went with them and they look great. They fill the wheel wells and dont rub. Go 19's
