it's cool you left only the top one body color. I bet a really thin set of eyelids that lined up with it would look nice.

 

I honestly think now that all xBs should have a black grille.
It fits the color scheme of the lower grilles and makes the front look sick.

Hey Newt!!! Too much time on your hands? I was thinking of doing the same thing. Did you paint it with gloss or flat? Oh, My Hotchkis TVS is sitting in my back seat ready to be installed tomorrow. I'm taking pics as my husband does it that way if he has a short cut I can write a how to for it. I've seen all the probs that have been written about with doing the front bar and my husband even said for me to time him. He has taken apart plenty of toyota suspensions before so he is confident.

Yeah, retired life is great!!! The paint can says glossy but it is in fact more like semi gloss or satin. I removed the wax with PrepSol (paint shops use it) and then washed with hot soapy water. Dried well and sprayed two coats with an overnight dry between coats. I will ask some advice here... should I cover with a clear coat for added protection. I kinda like the non high gloss effect and wonder is a clear coat will increase the gloss.

Thanks Newt, I have a good watch and I will time him for sure. If you clear it you will make it shiney. Testors makes a dull coat that my husband used for model railroading, I wonder if that would protect the finish without making it glossy. Talk to you later and stay dry!!

It just depends on the clear you get. I would suggest clearing it just for the extra protection so you don't have to repaint as often.

 

I agree....That's why I switched the 2.0 grill

Clear coat that baby! It'll shine like Bruce Willis' Dome, and who wouldn't want that. Plus it will have the durability to boot. Looks good newt

 

Nicely done, looks very nice. I was thinking of painting the standard RS2 grill black so it matched the lower two valances better. Has anyone done that yet?
