widdessssssssssssssssssst offset on a Tc
ok , is it me, or has anybody else noticed the wheels just disappear into the wheelwel........ has anybody gone 45mm or higher on thier offset?i want to run a 18x8 or 19x 8............i need pics if possible.
17x8, 18x8, 19x8, +35 is about perfect. Lower numbers bring the wheels out for a wider stance.
No pics right now, been doing this for decades, have a pretty good idea of what works;)
We have 17x8 +35 Enkei RPF1s with Hankook RS-2 in 235/40/17, dang sweet looking.
Why 17, because we will not sacrifice real performace for suedo performance, anything larger in diameter is step down in what we are after, FAST!

you know i totally F-d up......i was thinking 25, not 45......so 38 would be safe? also i dont think 18's are going to change the performance much, but i agree.......i have 19's on my accord, and thier is a major performance issue. but its a family car......thanks for your information.
It has to do more with the weight than diameter or course, any heavy wheel is a performance killer, far more than most people seem to realize. BUT, always a but, even with the same weight wheels, same diameter tires, etc, etc, there is still a performance hit, less but still there, because more of the weight is shifter further out from the center of the wheel.

i knew the rotating mass issue......my accord has a brembo big brake kit simply for the fact i went up 3 sizes from factory....i figure 18's are safe for my Tc. ill keep my 17s and run some wider tires for now.........BTW, the stocks on the Tc are not bad. IMO, just looking at options.
bigger wheels dont always meen a performance loss. if you have bigger wheels (like myself at 19"), and they weight the same as 17"s or lighter, i believe they are better in many reasons.
i perfer big wheels myself, or i would not have gone to 19's on my accord, however ive seen 20's on the same car and it looks silly......but its all about the brand, and what thier made of.........if you get some pepboys brand wheels you are going to be getting a heavy wheel.....im looking at something forged, or lightwieght........ ive seen 20's being run on drift cars, and those are very powerfull im assuming, and i think they run 18's on the circuit track......so thier cant be much loss in perferomance.......this is all my opinion....
Please state the reasons
Not being a smart **** or anything, just pointing out some info based on the real world. Sure some race cars have them, but they may also have 4 or five times the power a stock tC has, the brakes and tires to support the power and it all balances out. Putting really big wheels on a low powered street car always causes a loss in performance even if the same weight, far more so that a car designed for the larger diameter wheels. Purely physics, nothing magic about it, wishing otherwise does not change a thing;)
I too like the look of bigger wheels as long as resonably sized for the applications, they can look great, I have run them once, they performace hit was dramatic. Handling, ride comfort, gas milage, braking performance, all are affected.

19" is better tire wear because you have a larger diameter of tire
less tire play (movement), yes i know u cant get a low profile on smaller wheels as well as big wheels... but the combo of 19 and low pro just feels right to me.
my RH's are light, and they will be able to allow me to upgrade my brakes to a big brake kit (when i need it)

Ok, please think this over a bit;)
The diameter of the tire is based on the aspect ratio, width versus profile. The diameter would be the same as stock if you size it correctly, zero difference in tire wear would be effected(many other factors are in effect but we are not doing a primer on this aspect)
The majority of race cars do not have very big wheels, the top echelon in all of racing is F1, look at what they run;)
I am glad your 19's are low weight, far better than what most with big wheels end up with, you are way ahead of the average guy in that regard, good for you, really
But, take the same weight 17 wheels and tires and same exact quality, A/B test them and the smaller wheels will win in just about every catagory possible except looks. Again, this is not a myth, this is science, period.
If this was not true I would be one of the first to use bigger wheels but I do not because I put performance over looks first and formost. That is my choice and you have yours, I am just trying to point out the real world deal here is all
P.S. I have 12.9" rotors and 4 piston calipers and have just enough clearance with my 17x8 wheels, sure makes the brakes look huge!!!!

its personal preference......but the rotating mass on a 19, even forged will mess with the "physics" of a car, but i still like them........is there really that much difference in a 18 and a 17? atleast enough to notice a Tc? but the original reason for this post was dealing with offset, not necassarily rotating mass of a 18 19 or god forbid a 26" wheel....
Yes, the orinal post subject was about offset, oopps!!!
I will post some pics in a week or so, will be offline after tonight for a few days, moving my business and household to Oregon, packing the trucks tomorrow!

Speaking of offset...
Does anyone make spacers for the tc yet? I think the stock 17's would look a hell of a lot better with a set of spacers behind them. The larger wheel you have the bigger the affect on your gearing it has. I would rather stay with a wide 17" wheel than go with a big huge 19" wheel. But then again Im not much into looking good without going fast.

I have a 35 mm offset with 19 x 8 inch PIAA Super Rozza wheels. Weight for those that care is 23.6 lbs.
Here is a pic of the wheels as you would like to see. I will prolly get a set of spacers from H&R Sprimgs to bring them out just a bit more. Hope this helps

yeah, i like that........if the stock wheels were pushed out, they would look much better, tucking wheels looks good on bagged trucks, not on a Tc.....hey you have any othe pics of your tc?
