MOD's, please MOVE if needed

Take off the grill, bumper, headlight, wire harness, w/ appropriate tools. 10mm socket/wrench, ext. , philips & small flathead screwdriver.


I went ahead and took out the Projectors, LED, but not the HALO's (just to see how things are.)



Prepare for the oven


In the Oven, 250 F for 5-7 min. (gauge temp. & min.) Easyoff oven cleaner optional j/k I know...it's dirty.


Pull apart Lens/cover w/ your fingers. (do not use sharp object) Be patience and work it. If need be, Re-heat in the oven to soften the seal.


Clean out/off old seal.
Use clear or black waterproof/resistant silicone sealer. (original seal is Black)
Apply seal and run a good bead. Clean off excess run off w/ finger & wipe clean.


After putting the Lens/Cover back on, check the contact w/ Lens and the housing that it sit's properly. I put the housing under a couch cushion, and I added some weight to it so that the Lens/Cover will set firmly on the housing. (Cure time depend's on the product.)

Re-assemble Projectors and LED's


Put everything back as it should, and there ya go!

Hmm, maybe this should be a FAQ since so many peeps want to re-seal the helix lights.

 

sorry if i'm lame, but why are you resealing? oh, and if it's obvious in the pics, they don't show up on our computer at work for some reason. weirdly enough doesn't even show a red x......

 

can you post pics of the halos
2 of mine went kaput and i need to fix/replace the led's in them

Right click on red "X" box, then click on "show picture" or Refresh, or go back out and try again. That should work.

 

due to fogging issue, Halo's going out, LED change out, etc., plus many were wondering "how to"

 

my main concern when taking apart headlights.. is if the beam will still be the same or if there is anyway to screw that up.

re: the beam pattern, theres not much you can do. if you want to direct the beam, you may have to insert a small washer where the projector sits in its place / housing.
You may have to use 2 tiny but thick washer to lift or tilt and angle the projector to direct it to either top, bottom, side, side. Now I'm not sure if this will work, due to gap btwn the projector & the housing causing it to have a bad seal and causing leaks later.
After close inspection of the projector Lens and its housing, (metal / pot metal?) you can disassemble the entire thing. ( I believe that there were 4 screws holding the Lens and the metal housing.)

This is just a visual inspection. I did not take apart the projector lens yet. (maybe later.)
The low beam lens does have some sort of metal deflector in the housing to disperse or cut off, or direct some sort of beam pattern. (maybe to keep it low?)
After taking apart, baking and re-sealing, It still has the same pattern as before.
HALO'S I did not take off. Not till they go out.

its like a semi sphere prolly projecting the cutoff...

now everyone who's asked 4.5 millions times... you can see... he showed ya'll... taking them apart is easy.

The projector portions/lens assemblies go together/apart just as easy. The metal portion inside the low beam portion is just the cutoff shield. If you leave it out you'll blind every person headed towards your car. if you take the shield out for some reason, just make sure you reinstall it the same direction it was in (so the top/bottom) beam pattern isn't totally reversed.

hey i have a question about tint..

is Johnsons? film great quality tint? (cursious, i asked some shop what they use and they said they use Johnsons i believe)

couldn't be farther from Carson if I tried.

Johnson's film line is just fine. I know a lot of tint guys prefer it over other lines becuase it's easier to use (although that means nothing to the person GETTING the tint, just the installer.) - and should a real prob with the film come up - your installer calls the factory direct (not a middle man distributor). There are other good brand lines out - but there's nothing wrong with the Johnsons.

is it possible to reseal them without opening?

 

how about leaving the cover lens off....
