Default Chrome Standard Rims?

Hey all,

Has anyone Chromed their standard rims? At my dealership, they do that for a CHUNK of change. I personally think the standard rims look better than the 18" but imagine it in CHROME! I was wondering if anyone has and how much would it run for.
State your opinion and facts please!

Also, on a side note, I plan on tinting the windows on the 06 Nautical Tc, what percentage should I tint so that it would look good?

Thanks,
Tim

Not sure about chroming...not my style. As far as tint you should browse around and pind pics of tint %. Someone else cant decide what you think will look good on YOUR car.

Yeah, I see a lot in Orange County... But my car'll be Nautical Blue and I'm definitely tinting the windows. I like how Ziggy tinted his car's window, I'll probably copy his tint. The chroming on the other hand... NOW THAT I THINK 'BOUT IT, the tint and the dark blue on the car would be too much of a contrast if my rims were chromed... My license frames will be chrome though. So is that an ugly contrast? Nautical Blue with Tinted windows + Chrome Standard Rims.

Just asking for opinions, it'll help me decide.

Thanks,
Tim

Aren't the stock 17's in chrome? or are they just painted silver?

The standard 17 inch rims have a graphite finish. I was going to "upgrade" to dip my rims in chrome. They'll have pretty much the same color as the 18 inch rims do. I'm just not too sure 'bout chroming my rims anymore since the tinting would cause a HUGE CONTRAST. But it might look good, not too sure though.

Thanks,
Tim

There is a guy in Tucson with a tC that had his stock wheels done in chrome. I'm usually not a fan of it but they looked pretty decent on his BCP.

My stock rims are chromed--got them from the dealer like that though.... I didn't know how much it usually costs to have it done outside, but they charged me $950 or so--I thought it was kinda high. I like them though--not too blingy, and they go well w/ my AP....

here are a couple of pics....

That looks awesome, looks smooth and goes well with the color of your car. I'm also getting the Wheel Locks to it. Hm... I guess I should keep the order the same then. Just adding on the Tint 15% all around.

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks!

I'm curious--If you don't mind me asking, from what dealer are you purchasing this and how much are they asking for the chrome rims?

I was offered freaking 1200 for chrome standard from "Power Toyota of Irvine"... I'll tell them how much they offered you and exaggerate a bit to get it 800.
The other one I went to was North County Toyota in the 92814 area code bordering Anaheim and Fullerton.

Man if you wanted stock chrome rims, you should have checked out the classified section.I was selling mines plus trade of non stock rims with less than 1500 miles on them. I would have probably hooked you up with a good price and we would have both benefited.

Damn, that's my loss... Well, my current car is two months old and I'm selling that one off, if you hadn't notice the signature. It's mint and so on but I'm selling it so that I can finance all the goodies on the 06 I'm getting so I don't have to be out of work and so on. I know, it's spoiled of me, but as long as I'm paying for it I aint such a _____ who needs their mommy.

Thanks,
Tim

i mean really, is chrome plating of the STOCK wheels that much heavier (significantly) than the regular finish? you know what's heavier than chrome stock wheels? alloy 18"s and 19"s!

What I find "stoopid" is people who have time to look through sites just to bad mouth. It's personal preference, it's like me liking blue and the other liking red, you shouldn't argue or say anything offensive... It's their personal preference, but thanks for your two pennies.
