Default Spacer and wheel question

I just bought a set of 18x7 +40 wheels for my xB. I will probably end up buying OTG's spacers hub shims (those are 10mm, right?). With a +40 and a seven-inch-wide wheel, is it possible to get the rear wheels flush (or close) with the fender? I've seen some pretty crazy 25mm spacers with studs built in from TC Sportline; are these safe? Do people run the hub spacers and the wheel spacers?

Any input would be great.

Most peeps are running one or the other.

An 18x7 +40 w/ an OTG rear shim should flush out nicely. A +40 on a 7 inch wide wheel will put the wheel just inside the fender lip.

By running both, you place added stress on all of the bolts concerned.

Not only the bolts, but isn't that stressing the bearings too?

Yes, the bearings also.

Default New Wheels for my XA

Ok,

This seems to be the right place to ask:

The wheel in question:
17x7 - 4x100 - 40 - BR
Tire: 205/45/17

Would it need wheel spacers? Or would this by itself give the overall car a streamlined appearance? Also how about the stress issues you mentioned?

Thanks for any answers and recommendations!!

You wouldn't "need" spacers. They'll fit fine. However, the rear wheels are pushed farther in towards the body without them which, to many people, is not a desired look.

Thanks for the info...

As for the topic of spacers: based on the previous specs of my XA, would anyone recommend a type of spacer to order when purchasing my wheels? Would you only recommend spacers for the rear wheels in order to best streamline the car's overall appearance?

I am certainly a newbie on this subject...

Thanks!
