Default Tint strip on windshield for xB?

I was thinking of putting a 5" or 6" strip of tint on the top of the front windshield. I've been trying to find pictures of xB's with this that do not have some sort of sponsor logo on it. Anyone seen this on an xB and how did it look?

squirrel has the same set-up, you should PM him and see if he has any pics of it. It looks so dark in his car.

I'm talking about tint for the strip on the windshield. I actually went to the tint place today. I got 30% in front. It's a little lighter then the rear, but I don't want to keep getting pulled over. My girlfriend has gotten pulled over twice in the last 6 months in my neighborhood for her dark tint. Anyways, when they tried to put in the 5" strip of tint on the windshield it looked arched. As in 4" from the top in the middle and almost 8" at the sides so I didn't keep it. Is this normal? I'm assuming there is a way to cut the tint so that it looks straight.

That sounds like it would be cool if it could be done to be nice and straight when looking at it from the outside (and in?) The box effect would be seriously exagerrated --- in a good way! Hope it can work out for you and It would be great to see pix.

Question: is this strip of tint just for visual effect or would it cut glare and help make the sunvisors more effective?

How's that Borla exhaust doing for you? I think I want one :D !

The tint would be both for glare (like a strip of sunglasses in a way) and because I think it will look cool. I've seen a zillion xB's with sponsor vinyl logos that are straight across, so there has to be an easy way of cutting the tint the same way. I'm assuming the tint guy just has never done this.

I love the Borla. I was initially ____ed about it not being a cat back, but that had more to do with being mislead and having neither Borla or the place I got it from being even a little apologetic abut posting incorrect information. Anyway, despite the mix up I have to say I really like the exhaust. Noticeable performance gain and I think it sounds great (quiet and low).

That's cool on both notes! I can't wait to see the strip so please post pix (but you are good about that already! :D )
I'm going to have to save my pennies for that Borla single! For that quality and price I don't think it can be beat, plus It would be cool to install on my lonesome...

I was thinking of doing a strip on the top and bottom. Nothing huge on the bottom maybe just up to the top of the dash level. Instead of the arch i might have them do an evil eye design. Something different, I just gotta photo shop it to make sure it wont look corny. What do you think?

Looks good!

Did you also put some tint down the sides of the front windshield, if so, how wide is that and doesn't it cover up those dots that are there already?

What the heck are those dots for anyway?

Top and bottom strips would be nice if you could get them both perfectly parrallel and straight. Not quite sure about the evil eye idea. Definitely on the corny bubble with that IMO. Love to see what you are envisioning tho... :D

I have 6inch plus tint strip on my windshield.

I think there are pics of it in my Exposed imagestation album.

If its not clear enuff, I'll take some pics and post them. The xB is splattered w/ bugs right now.

Yup, 5% tint, 6 inches plus, and no sponsor stickers. There should be a few pics in my Imagestation albums. If there aren't any clear enuff pics, let me know. I'll wash the xB after the storm passes and post them. I have a bizilion dead bugs on the front of the car right now.

Squirrel, I like how your 6" strip looks a lot. Thanks for the pic. I guess I'll have to find a tinter who can get me a straight look like yours. Do you have 5% all the way around? I have 30% in the front and the rear are the factory 20 something%. Trying to decide if I should go with 5%, 30% or 20% for the windshield strip. What do people think?

the sunshade is 5%, the driver and passenger doors are 20%, and the rears are 5% over factory. I'd like to do 50% on the windshield!
