I'm planning on something similar (using the monogram I've used since the mid '50's) when I get my 'new' grill.

I'm planning on making a front metalic plate with the monogram cut out, and backing that with translucent plastic thick enough to raise the emblem so it looks decent.

The plastic will have some LED lighting so the emblem will be lighted whenever the ignition is on...

(I'll also have to paint the edges of the plastic with an opaque paint so only the emblem glows...)

The one I made is aluminum that I cut out, filed smooth and radiused the corners, and then sanded even smoother all around. Next I used a vinyl decal of the letter C and sprayed black over everything. Two coats of black, removed the sticker, about five coats of clear and viola! Emblem. So the C is actually the metal showing through.

Thanks Tomas, that deffinately was not coming up on my browser. That'll look cool on an emblem, and it's much more unique than something that can be purchased.

Looks great, how are you connecting it to the grill? are you using the factory clip or some kind of double sided tape? also, will you be trying to sell any?

 

looks like a mod i been to lazy to do. but i want to do that with my logo as well.

 

I used double sided tape to connect it. As far as making some to sell I had thought about just making the alphabet and seeing if they sell.
