Default Rim experts come and help me!

Okay, so this spring i will be picking up some new rims. I'm looking for something in the sizes of 15-17'' rims, i perfer 15-16''. I am trying to find rims with a deep, deep dish. I'm talking 5''+ lip. I don't want to rock chrome, and i'd like to have a classic, clean JDM look.

Give me some options with pictures.

Closest thing so far is the ATS cups which i believe have a 4'' lip.

Thanks guys,

Cya

Check here:

Some of the European wheel makers, such as Borbet, make some pretty fat-lipped wheels, too.

To have a really fat lip, you are going to make compromises. There are two methods to do this. First is getting a large negative offset, and second is to run a wider wheel. Either way, the fatter lip will mean your wheels will stick out well beyond the stock fenders. That means to look right you will need to purchase a body kit.

Otherwise you are looking at some SERIOUS suspension and chassis redesign both front an rear in order to get the wheels to tuck or even look flush.

And for the record any QUALITY wheel manufacturer can build exactly what you want. If they build wheels to spec., they can build them to your spec. And don't let anyone tell you that it costs more money! Unless they do additional machining to the wheel centers or use a different (2 piece) hoop, the cost should be the same whether you have a +45 or a -45 offset.

Thanks for the information everyone...And thanks for moving it, thought i put it in T&B, oh well. I might look into seeing how much custom wheels will run me, i've been to the tunershop.com. They have the ats cups i was talking about.

We'll see, i really like Work wheels too.

AME and J-Line will also do custom offets for different diameter and widths.

Yeah, Work is a company i'm definitely leaning to right now.

My three major choices so far is: Work (unsure which ones i'd go with), ats cups, or custom. One to try and get something no one really has around here. Something new, tasteful, jdm, and not too flashy. Definitely, definitely not chrome.

Anyway, keep the comments coming. If anyone has wheels they specifically think looks good on a BOP xb feel free to post.

Actually, heres a pic for you guys that don't know what mine looks like. Maybe this will help further narrow down suggestions for me.

Well, it looks like you have limited your choices all on your own. How? ATS is German and J Line is from right here in the good ol' US of A.

If JDM isn't so important, you can look at wheels from just about any company that does forged or billet wheels. They can build ANYTHING. It all depends on what you want to spend. If you like one of their standard designs, it is much cheaper.

If you want some names of quality wheel companies that aren't JDM, let me know, and I'll post some up.

I don't have limited choices, but from i've seen i've made a list of top rims i'd want. Such as, Work and ATS. J line if you read later i don't mention them again, because i've decided against them. They make great wheels, but nothing i feel fits what i want and looking for. I'm very picky about rims, all i'm asking the community is what others think may look good and what they'd like to see. Or if anything just give me some input on personal favorites. I promise i will check out anything you post, or anybody does. But i was hoping by mentioning Work and ATS someone could come here and give me more choices or ideas with similar styles as these companies.

Names don't do anything for me, i know enough brand names. I want to know what you personally like, or personally like to see me buy. So list, or post pictures of rims. Either way is fine with me.

EDIT: Actually don't see i listed Jline. I was looking at them though, i like a few of their rims but most of their sizes are bigger than what i want to run. I thought i said Jline some where...Oh well, either way you mentioned it and it reminded me.

Well, generally speaking, an 8" wide wheel with a 0 offset should have about 4" of lip depending on the design. So for 5" lips, you'll need a combo of wide wheels 8.5" at least, really low offset, and some added "fake" lip (When the spokes curve back way past the mounting pad, i.e. ATS Cups is mostly "fake" lip).

If you go to the Work Japan website, pick a wheel and download the fitment charts in PDF. They usually list the lip size in mm for each wheel/offset combo. Some design have more lip, some have less....you can see what fitments you need to achieve 5" lips (about 120mm)
