Default Best xB Snow Tires?

I was just wondering what the best snow tire per $ is that I could put on my xB this season. I constantly hear Blizzak Blizzak Blizzak, but I can't seem to get them purchased and installed for less than $600.
I've also heard the Cooper WeatherMasters are good and can be studded. I live in CT and the weather here in winter can run from 1-3" of snow to 8"+ of snow with an underlayer of ice depending on what day of the week it is.

I've also heard rumors that the E-Trac on the xB can do wacky things when snow/studded tires are put on, even in sets of 4. Is this BS?

Can anyone give me a suggestion?

Thanks.

I got 4 of the Semperit Sport Grips like these:
(Scroll down to the winter tires)

http://www.terektrading.com/sempbr.html

The factory steel wheel tire size is VERY hard to find in any type of snow tire. The Blizzaks were so expensive so I got the Semperits, which were standard factory tires on the Saab so years back. They are perfect, and with 4 snows, I am totally in shock at how good the box is in the snow. One thing you don't need when you have a box with 4 snows is...... a gas hog SUV !!

I got my son 4 Blizzaks for his Jetta (Goodyear F1s really, really suck in snow). It makes such a difference that I'm getting some for my Box. Tire Rack is awesome and their service has always been great. Go For It!

I run Nokian Hakkapeliittas on our Civic. I took the car out in 4"-6" of snow this weekend and it was like driving a rally car! Okay, maybe not that great, but it was very good. Hakkapelittas are some of the best snow tires money can buy.

You want the Blizzaks. If it costs a few dollars extra, consider it an investment in your personal safety. It's well worth it.

I also agree that most Goodyear Eagles are junk. However, these Eagles on my xB are far better than the 15" Eagles I had on my 99 Nissan Sentra; those Eagle RS-As were the crappiest OEM tire that I'd ever owned.
