it's been discussed before, but only rumor. This is the official word.

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. is tacking $150 onto the sticker price of the 2006 Scion xB for midyear production models that begin arriving in dealerships at month's end.

Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission will have a sticker price of $14,570, while xBs with an automatic transmission will be priced at $15,370. Prices include $540 shipping.

Toyota said the small boxy vehicles will get new seat fabric and a steering wheel with audio controls.

Here's the full text Press Release with a little more detail:

Scion Announces Mid-Year Price Adjustment for xB

TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion, from Toyota Motor Sales
(TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced mid-year price adjustments for the 2006
Scion xB, which receives an updated interior and new exterior colors.
The 2006 Scion xB urban utility vehicle will have new seat fabric and a
steering wheel with integrated audio controls. Two exterior colors,
Camouflage Green and Black Cherry Pearl, will be replaced with Salsa Red Pearl
and Shadow Mica. Shadow Mica is new to the Scion line-up.
With the additional standard equipment, prices for the xB increase only
$150 on both models. The MSRP for the Scion xB will be $14,030 with a manual
transmission and $14,830 with an automatic transmission, reflecting a 1.1 and
1.0 percent increase, respectively.
Production of mid-2006 xBs began earlier this week and vehicles will start
arriving at Scion dealerships on the West Coast at the end of the month.

I guess I got my Black Cherry just in time... though a bummer I couldn't get the audio controls on the steering wheel.

No mention in any of the articles what the fabric change is going to look like.

Yeah, I'm curious as to what those changes will be. maybe all the cars will have color keyed fabric like the RS cars, that'd be tight

Correct.

Also, the seat fabric will be the same as in the '06 xA. Not a big change, but different.

I think my eyes were deceiving me. . . is it just the angle, or do they look bigger.

And no, they aren't purple, but many shots make them appear so. I get the same effect with my '05 seats, depening on the angle/lighting.
