Default Great Response...

I want to thank you all for a great response. I will be a proud xB owner in a matter of weeks and I am loving the community around this vehicle.

Tom i think i will go with the 15" type H from Borbet. The Tire Rack salesman told me they would fit with the stock tires that come with the xB. I will check further to make sure that is true.

My ultimate goal is to make my Camo xB (on the way from Japan!) look like a Range Rover.

Thanks again,
-Brian

Default Tire Rack displays the rims but the lug pattern is not...

When TireRack.com displays the rims the lug pattern is not reflected. The actual lug pattern for the rims i will order is 4x100.

You may also want to consider Konig Rewinds. These are 15X7 45mm offset. They fit perfect and I put on the stock tires. The rims only weigh 14lb ea. - that is 6lb less than the stock wheels and hubcaps each! They cost right around $100 each.

Do you have spacers on those wheels to account for the extra width and offset?

Careful!
I bought the exact same rims in a 15" for my Metro.
As soon as I mounted them I wish that I had gotten the 16's or 17's.

On another note, and not saying you will encounter this on the xB, I had to install longer wheel studs in order to properly mount the Borbet rims. With the existing wheel studs I could only catch a couple of threads with the lug nuts.

I emailed TireRack about the potential problem, never received a response.
I just now looked at TireRack, they don't even have the Metro listed as an option anymore (it was listed before). Maybe this was their fix to the problem???

Wow that looks really nice and clean. It fits right in to the look of the box. Almost looks OEMish.

Like you said - it all depends on the look you are going for. I like the sort of old style look of the rounded spokes - it reminds me of what some of the old mag wheels used to look like. These wheels are also the easiest to keep clean of any wheels I have owned. I also like the lighter weight you can get by sticking with 15" wheels. I noticed an improvement in performance and braking just by the weight reduction of the rims.

I went from 16" to 18" wheels on my Lexus SC400 and I couldn't stand the horrible ride and the decrease in performance that resulted. I also like the idea of being able to use the stock tires. I will put bigger rubber (15") on when I wear out the stock Goodyears.

Good luck with your search. You will know when you find the right combination. You might try looking through the gallery to find the look that hits you.

Tom

As far as I know, the FWD Konig Rewinds are 15x7 with a 40mm offset...

You are correct - they are 40mm offset, not 45mm as I previously posted.

They will bolt right on with hubcentric adaptor rings - no spacers required. Any tire store will have the rings.

I put on One Ton Garage spacers on the rearabout a month after I put on the wheels, but that was just to make the rears more flush with the wheel openings. Since the OTG spacers are only 10mm, I didn't notice much difference before and after - If I had to do it over again, I would probably not use the spacers.

Here is a list of the tires that Konig says will fit on an Xb:

Put the 10 mm on the front and get 25 for the rear. I put the 25 (about 1") on the rear of both my Lavas and love it. It does not have that cheapo car look, even with the stock rims.

Those Borbet's will def. fit the bill for the Range Rover look. On the other hand those Konig Rewinds look absolutely RIGHT on a TCM Box, Sweet pics!

Yes, the pictures I showed are with Tein Htech springs which lower the car about an inch. I have since gone back to the stock springs. I ride with three passengers (four including me) often, and I like the stock ride height better. With the Htechs, the car would bottom on speed bumps with a full load if I was not careful.

The stock suspension handles a load better. The Htechs were fine with just one or two people in the car. I also have a progressive anti sway bar on the rear and Koni shocks. The Koni shocks really helped soften the ride. I am going to try XA springs next, they are slightly softer spring rate, but do not lower the car.
