Default 17's with 215-45-17tires...is this set up ok on the box?

I'm buying some wheels this week and I just wanted to make sure that this tire size is going to be ok. I want the thickest sidewall possible and I've been told that a 45 series tire will be fine on a 17. Can anyone confirm this for me?

thanks for the information.

I have 40's on my xA and I have tons of room to spare. This past weekend, i talked with a guy with an xB who had 17's with 45's and the TRD 1" lowering springs, his road fine and had room..no rubbing.

I have 45's on my xB. Plenty of room and mine is with TRD springs. Mine are 205/45. Yours will be slightly wider and slightly taller, but should fit no prob.

That is the best combo going IMO. I have em with the OTG shims and a 2" drop with no rubbing. Much better ride than 40-series I previously had.

I don't know for sure on the 225/40. I do think they may be too tall and will deffinitely throw off the speedo as well as more strain on the other drivetrain parts. Just a heads up!

What's the drop of those...i have goldlines with a 2" drop and dude I could easily the 45's..easily. I wish I had 45's but when the tires need replacing I'll change. I could have gone 18's with 40's if i was going to run 40's.

i have some adr 18's with 215/35 tires right now and i hate it. the car has a lot of road noise and you feel every bump. plus the handling has gone to hell. so i bought some forged 17's (15 lbs!) and want to put on some fairly large rubber. i think 225/45 would look nice and mean on my little car but i just wanted to make sure i won't rub or anything.

and the s techs dont lower the car 2 inches so i think i'll go with the 225 unless i find out i'll run into some problems.

I can't be positive 225 will fit or work, but 45s i know would. I hear you on the road noise, man i totally know if the highways is crappy in some areas. i also hate watching for potholes and cringing. I just wish i had a little more insurance sometimes.

215/40-17 are close to the OEM rolling diameter if staying w/ a 7 or 7.5 inch wide wheel. 215/45-17 will work if stretching it on 8.5 inch wide wheel. 225s are a bit too tall.

My new tires are 215/45/17's and can't wait to see how much better they will be than the 205/40's.
They will fit without any rubbing as long as they are on 17x7 rims with roughly 40 offset.
The speedo will read slightly lower than actual speed.

My 205/45 was the closest to stock in a 45 series tire...I just couldn't go with a 40 series...The dealer was pushing us hard to buy them too!

im running 215/45-17 on a 8.5 wide... if i had to do it again, i'd rather go 215/40 or even 205/40.. here's a pic.

although 215 17 40 will fit you have to get the correct offset on the wheel or there will be some rubbing in the front. i have 215 17 40 with +42 offset and they rub when turned all the way left or right

These are 205/40/17's This combo makes the set just a bit smaller diameter than the stock tires, i may be changing to the 215/40/17's..... to get the most out of them, ie; gas mileage, speedo more correct ect. I have a +40 offset with no problems

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp This link is good for looking at all the specs for size comparisons.

Shoulda asked me first bro! I would never recommend fatty bulgy tires to anyone. A 205/40 would look incredible on that wheel. Of course its all dependant on how low you are willing to go. Looks good though.
