Default rear disc

anyone have it? not custom but one of the available kits... i want to do this but am worried about finding parts later for the caliper, pads or rotors when they go out. some rear disc kits say they are easy to find replaceable parts, what car are they from then? because i know vitz parts arent easy to come by... thanks

I email wilwod and this is what I got as a responce:

Mike,

Thank you for your inquiry to Wilwood Engineering. We do not currently offer a rear kit conversion for the Scion XB, but we are working on a kit for the hydro-mechanical set up that the Scion XB has. I don't have a lead time on when that will be coming out. So if you want to check back with us in the spring that would be much appreciated. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to give us a call.

thanks but that guy that did custom is still having trouble with the ebrake cable. the Overdose kit uses what they call "easy to find replacement parts." just want to know what they are from...

i know about them too. i think my question is vague, sorry.

kingsmart and overdose's kits say that the parts are "easy to find stock replacements." my question is;
[what car are they from then?] are we talking about toyota america parts or are we talking about vitz parts? or what?

if the caliper goes out i dont want to have to call japan to get the rebuild kit or brake pads.

This is where I'm getting mine from. If something breaks, you just get a replacement from them or Wilwood if it's one of their parts. Their out of Oregon and use Wilwood calipers and some other Wilwood parts then manufacture their own parking brake assembly.

the parts would be locally available, but no one will give you part numbers until you order them. if you order from kingsmart, be careful. they don't speak english well so i asked several questions several times to finally get an answer which ended up being wrong anyway. also, if you convert the rear to discs, the rear rotors will be bigger than your front ones.

You can get the euro vitz trd kit, it's like $700 or so... do a search and you'll find some info.

to preface my post - I don't know what exact car you say you had (but dont) when calling PepBoys looking for parts on one of these pre-made kits- would be handy to know though wouldn't it. Now the point I'd like to make - why in the hell is Saveacivic having such a hard time making ANYONE understand his question?!?!? WHAT FREAKING MAKE/MODEL/YEAR CAR DOES THE SWAP KIT GET IT'S PARTS FROM!?!

that was the best i could do when i wanted to get the kit. my problem was that i wanted to order blank rotors before i ordered and received the kit because i didnt want the slotted ones they came with. they (kingsmart and highonscion) would not give me the part numbers i guess because they feared i was going to try to build the kit myself or something. so, the next way was to find someone who ordered the kit. another problem because several people from past threads said they already ordered the kit. when i found the post and pm'd those people that posted they ordered the kit, they actually hadn't ordered it. i have not been able to find a single person, without ties to a shop that sells this kit, that ordered this. maybe somewhere on echodrivers or something. i did search there too, but only breifly.

oh i know i just kept seeing all these links to the kits. and was asking them . lol . weak. i've always hated when people or companies keep secrets. it's valuable pre purchase decision making things. and so what if people build the kits themselves most won't since it's more complicated.

same thing with alot of peeps with "secret" mods . and "need to know" experiences/connections to get special never been done / trick of the trade work done. it's like u have to be a millionaire or be fully sponsored to get/ know anything. weak.....

hahaha... anyway i appreciate every reply from anyone who took the time to put it up here. i come from 11 years of honda background and am learning alot from everyone here. man is it a different world. i love the subtleness here and the fact that not everyone acts like they know everything. i cant tell you how many times i got booted for correcting an admin publicly, hahaha.

even if no one knows, thanks for the time...
