The engine is further refined with Toyota’s Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system and Direct Ignition System (DIS), making it more efficient, powerful, and smooth.

4x4 models of the FJ Cruiser come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an electronically shifted 5-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the MT model comes with a full-time 4x4 system. The 4x2 model is available only with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

I see the FJ being much like the Highlander.

It's a great vehicle standard...but once you start adding a few options the price skyrockets.

Plus with such limited expected production in the first two years, you're going to see them going at a premium....there will be NO haggling in price.

Best case scenerio, keep your Scion...if you're in the market for a second vehicle and don't have a family, this could be perfect.

I wonder if they'll have a bike rack that attaches to the tow hitch. Rear clearance sonar? The FJC40 goes under water? It does need it though with that huge tire rack hanging off the back. I'll wait after I turn 25 in a few months and take a test drive. I still prefer a pickup though. It is cheaper than the Tacoma DC w/6ft bed, V6 auto. Why can't Scion have a 4x4 pickup truck that has 5-seat belts, with a 2.4L engine (optional S/C) and sits lower to the ground than the Taco?

I remember seeing that at the NYC auto show last year. All the windows were painted black cause they had not yet figured out what interior they were going to use. The only thing i dont like about it are the tails. The roundness on the outside edge just screams to be hit by something and break. Can you say fix-it ticket? I knew you could.

There's a nice article in the new 4WD Toyota Owner magazine of the FJ going through the famous Rubicon trail, I'm going for the orange color, although the Black Cherry is sweet too. When you compare it to the competition (Element/Jeep Rubicon) its a great deal. I just hope the back seats have as much room as the Xb, although the pics dont look promising.
