I know your all probably tire of all these questions but I need to know before I get them.
215/40R18 tires on 18x7.5 w/ a 42 offset rims.
All I have right now is a TRD drop. I don't have OTG shims but plan on getting them in the future but wanted to know if I can at least run this setup before getting them. Thanks.

What's up, xbbox, long time no see. Hope you're doing well these days.
Currently I'm running 215/35 on 18s with a 42 offset and I'm dropped at least 2" (I say at least because I have a set of Spy Drop springs which people say usually drop lower than what they advertised - some people say even 3"!). I was rubbing when turning the wheel all the way so I got 15mm H&R spacers up front and to match the front, 10mm OTG shims and 10mm OTG spacers out back. I don't have any trouble rubbing except ever so slightly on the driver's side when I hit a big dip while driving fast (highway driving), but it's not enough to make me nervous. I would say you'd definitely be fine riding 215/40 on a TRD drop, even though the overall wheel diameter will be larger than stock. I suggest getting spacers with your setup to bring the wheels closer to the fenders. I love my stance and it handles a little better since the wheels are spread out a bit more.

I heard they don't make them anymore. They were the first company to come out with springs for the Amercian xB. Here's their site:

Wuz up pdrizzle? What have you been up too?
I don't want to go with a 35 tire because that's not enough rubber for me. I plan on getting the OTG shims and possibly the spacers also at a later date, just not yet.

I've been alright, considering. Been living in Baton Rouge since the apocalypse, but plan on moving back to the big easy as soon as possible. Let me know when you start looking into spacers, I know a good bit about the topic because I just went through all of that. From calculating how many millimeters you need to get that flush look with a particular offset wheel to installing studs from an old Land Cruiser in order to run 10mm spacers in the rear. I've been a busy beaver and my car is looking and driving better than ever.
I recently installed a set of 18x7.5 Konig Next with a +45 offset rolling on 215/35/18 tires. I added a set of OTG spacers in the rear at the same time. The car still has stock suspension right now, but there are no problems. When these tires wear out though, I think we will go with some 225/35/18 Nitto 555 tires. Believe it or not the 215s she currently have look stretched. I know the low profile adds to it. A 225/35 is also a closer match to the stock diameter than a 215/40 would be, but it is under 1/4" less sidewall.

I'm running 215/35-18s, but with a big drop and camber. 215/40s should fit fine as long as you keep the drop conservative. 215/40s will be slightly taller, and depending on rim offset, and drop, you may or may not have rubbing issues.
Case and point, 215/35-18s on 7.5s in front and 8.5s in back, and custom rate/height TEIN coilovers.
