Default Tenabe air/coil suspension for the xB

I happen to notice today that sandwiched in between scantily clad models there are actually articles about cars in Import Tuner. Anyway, I managed to rip myself away from the dyno results of Francine Dee's latest outfit and stumbled upon an article highlighting the Tenabe factory in Japan. In it they make a very brief mention of: "soon to hit the streets is a Tenabe air/coil over suspension of the Scion xB". Anyone hear anything about this?

That would be Tanabe--and the system is called the AIR COBRA.

I noticed that they didn't have an application for the JDM market for the bB..but they could very well likely release it here for the xB based on the response that the xB has seen by the aftermarket world!

Response back from Tanabe USA::::::

Hello Mark

Thank you for your interest in Tanabe performance products!

The Air Cobra is a concept hybrid coilover/airbag suspension that has been available in Japan since 2002. We are still determining whether to bring this into the United States. This suspension is built for luxury/vip/wagon style vehicles. We do have other suspension options available for your vehicle in the coilover department. These include:

Sustec Pro S-0C

Sustec Pro S-0C Type II

Sustec Pro S-S

Sustec Pro S-S Type II

If you have any additional questions, or need assistance locating an authorized Tanabe dealer/installer, please feel free to contact us anytime!

Best Regards,

Tanabe Racing Development, USA

How can I find out more info on your Sustec Pro Air Cobra Coil-over setup.

I'd like to do something completely different for our next vehicle.

Thanks,

Mark

The Air Cobra is available for the bB in Japan, and it's basically just a coilover suspension, with on-the-fly height adjustability by just 1 or 2" if I remember correctly. Quality is great, but they retail for like 2500-2900 in Japan last I checked. I don't think anyone is ready to pay that price here...
