Default tire dismounting and scratches

Are marks on the wheel inevitable when dismounting tires? On all the machines I've seen the clamp clamps on the inside back part of the wheel and leaves gouges on the wheel.

I know when they put the tire on it mounts from the outside lip. But how about taking it off?

You can take the tire off that way? Wouldn't you need to break the bead first?

ive used it to take 215/35/18 tires off and put back on its just a matter of finding a shop with someone who knows how
also the first pic shows it with the rubber pads
alls you have to do is wipe them marks off
they have metal peices that go over the rubber pads that is what makes the marks
iv mounted billet show rims(boyd, budnick, centerline)with no problems
if you also notice that the rims is face down on the second pics
you have to do this with reverse mount rims (off/on)

if they have the proper machine and know what they are doing, it is not an issue. some shops use 2 guys at a time. i did tire installs for years and didnt scratch any. mind you we were a rim shop so im talking 17"-20" back then. 22 and 24 and such didnt exist yet...
