Hey anyone out there know where I can get shims? The people at the tire place i was at today said that I can't get a alignment in the rear after lowering my car, is this true & if it is true where can I get shims so that I don't go thru tires every 20,000+ miles 'cause they are rubbing/rounding out on the inside.

Trying to clarify what you are asking.

You lowered your car and now the rear wheel and/or tire is rubbing the inside? Inside of what? The wheel well? The shock?

Also... do you have aftermarket rims or stocks?

I don't want to point you in the wrong direction.

As for an alignment, you can't really adjust anything on the rear. Any differneces will need to be made with camber or spacer shims.

 

Ya I lowered my car & have aftermarket rims on it.

What's happening is that I need to get a alignment apparently or something 'cause the inside of the tires are starting to round off (if that makes sense) 'cause the rears are cambering in. So i want to get it so that does not happen anymore & they told me to look for a shim kit or something along that lines since i can't get an alignment done on the rear

 

how low did you lower it? camber really shouldn't be that bad.

follow this thru (select car) and this company does make shims for the stub axle
any PROFESSIONAL alignment shop will be able to install these...by the way...
you will technically need 2 alignments
1st to measure...then order/install parts
2 measure to verify repair

i have installed many sets of springs on xB's and never had to align one
what springs are you using??? how low???

 

Got them from company called Suspenion Max and it was a 1.75" drop all the way around. The tire guys told me that i needed a alignment so i assume that I do, plus I can tell on the tires that they rounding off on the inside edge

 

Any Good Alignment shop will have them "In Stock" Rear shims should be cheap..about $ 10.00 per wheel.

The lower you go, the more it jacks with your camber and toe in the rear. It's adjustable in the front, but you need a specialized shim in the back.

Explain to me how a your rear camber and toe are affected by lowering... the rear is a torsion beam- why would it change at all? The front I can totally understand- each wheel moves in an independent arc. But the rear?

for some magical reason the lower you go the further up the axle pivots and the wheel is sent up to the passenger door
if i am right the axle has special bushings that are supposed to correct toe when cornering
these same bushings are creating a slight increase in negative camber and toe in...lower drop=more pronounced change in wheel alignment
