Rumored 400-500 Scion tC Tuner Editions
In my pursuit to uncover the freshest Scion information I was turning over some stones and happened across a small envelope marked CLASSIFIED. The envelope was sealed with poisoned glue, but I wrapped my dirty socks around my hands and opened it anyway. The contents were in a strange language, but I could make out some of the words...
Limited Scion tC Tuner Edition
Estimated production numbers:
- 400-500
Pricing:
- $1500 off regular tC list price
Details:
- Fixed roof, probably glass but possibly steel
- No alloy wheels, most likely steel wheels without hubcaps
- Four color choices only, no BCP or Azure
- Probably no keyless entry
That is all the information that we have for now. Please discuss...

I will say the things on your list of features looks very familiar. They are still kicking around a few more ideas. Theyre thinking about offering the Super White without a clear coat because that color is actually a primer. Thats one of my favorite ideas which I was literally yelling at the factory guy telling him they need to do it. The roof will definately be fixed and glass. They couldnt design a new roof structure which would be so different than the one in production already for a couple hundred cars. I wish they made them without the glass roof. Really would have helped handling. The rims will be steelies with no hubs for sure. Basically I will confirm what you posted already is correct. But like I said, final planning isnt over yet...
We should see them start shipping in June or July.

-fixed GLASS roof
-No alloy wheels, steelies
-limited color choices (option to paint, SW ise primered)---possibly
-no passenger door key hole
-other small cutbacks
has not gone into production yet, 400-500 a month per region. very limited number, some dealers may not even get any at all
Basically to get one the dealership has to ask for it and then its still up to regional to give it to us or not. Ive already asked for 5 over the length of the year and will more than likely be getting them.

i dont see the pluses for buyign this. You save a mere 1500 and they take away alot.
I guess its the concept of the Evolution VIII and the Evolution RS. But with the RS the save a few hundred pounds and the price drops about 6 grand taking away parts that arent needed.
If they truly want to do it right....barfe bones the thing and drop the price down to 12,000 so people have a starting point for a tuner car.

I agree with ScionBandit and Nick06tC.
I just don't get it. If they're trying to make the thing a bed for tuning, why not throw on the supercharger or some other parts that would augment performance instead of just stripping it? The tC already has a very low price point compared to other cars in the FWD sport coupe category...why work on an aspect of the car that is already successful? If anything is keeping people from picking the tC as a tuner car it would be its less-than-outstanding performance from the factory. I find it hard to imagine people flocking to a "tuner" tC because it has a urethane steering wheel. This makes about as much sense as Subaru offering a low-priced tuner version of the WRX with no turbocharger.

mr. avg joe off the street who won't do anything to it
Other than the limited production, I don't really see much different here besides a slightly reduced price. Sure, i can speculate it might way an itty bit less or more, but enough to jump up and down for?
Maybe in my naieve eyes i 'just don't get it.'
