I just wanted to know if these were the same. I read on here that a bunch of people are still waiting on the hotchkis swaybars and thought that maybe I could get around that. Thanks for any info.

 

This is what was explained to me:

No, but they do the same thing in different ways,

1. Hotchkis Sway Bar Set - Ties struts together
2. JIC Frame Brace (Type II, I think) - Ties Suspension-to-UniBody mounting points together

Both are to prvide more rigidity for cornering. If you are wanting the Hotckis kit, but don't want to wait, then get a Frame Brace, then later on (when then come in) get the Sway bar set. You can use both togther.

 

no, they are not the same thing.

sway bars are meant to distribute the cornering load from the outside tire to the inside tire (rough discription) kinda make the car squat in the corners.

the bottom one is a sub frame brace. it helps to keep the suspension attached to the frame and maintain proper suspension geometery. (almost like a stut tower bar) this does nothing to distribute the cornering load frm side to side.

Kinda a little bit. One of my questions was answered though about using both of them together. I'm used to a tight suspension setup. I got rid of a 99 4X4 Dodge Ram. Can't get much stiffer than that. I think I'm going to get the lower brace first with some drop springs, then if I want, I'll get the hotckis kit. Thanks for the info.

 

You will not notice any difference with the lower subframe brace unless you are used to cornering near the limit of your suspension and tires. I fabricated my own and saved about $60.... Save the $ and buy the sway bar set, you will feel the difference with that all the time.
