Default ALIGNMENT

Question:
With a drop of like 1.5 to 1.8 " how many of you found it necessary to have an alignment done ?

I've been told that one should get an alignment after tampering with the suspension components in any way.

Umm should be toe-out.....unless there was a pre-existing toe-in situation before the spring install.

I dropped my box nearly 2" 2 weeks ago using Tanabe DF210 springs. I let it settle and took it in to the dealer for an alignment today. Everything checked out good...within spec, except for the right rear. The spec for Toe on the rears is 0degrees to .33 degrees, mine is .53 degrees. Camber is -.5 to -1.4 degrees, mine is -1.6 degrees. They said they can't adjust the rear. That make ssense given the solid rear axle. The funny thing is, the front was in spec, although I notice that they didn't "center" it. If it was in range, they left it. So, paid for an alingment and nothing got adjusted. Not sure if I should worry about the right rear or not.

I've seen other comments with exactly the same results. That's really why I'm asking.
My " dealer" also recommended the work but why not .. it's not his $$.
I'm just looking for some comments from real users.
Thanks.

hmm...i dunno...maybe you toed-out? when i took my car for an alignment my front left was WAY too much toe-in. Anyway...it IS recommended to have your alignment done after suspension work. I guess sometimes, some people have no alignment issues and some don't. I got my alignment done mainly because of performance reasons (I had them set my toe to 0.0, cause you know...factory specs come with toe-in)

Darren, I have seen you mention your drop in the past as 3.25". I was curious what you were using for springs. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that you had some sort of modified Celica springs or something.

Care to fill me in on the specs. of your suspension?

Same thing happened to me but on my camber.. front was Left -0.7 Right -0.9 (specs show -1.3 to 0.2)... should i take it back and just give them the specs that i want? (Toe was also not centered... it was left at -0.05)

What about if I just upgrade wheels?
Since my last and olny service, my tires were totated. And I started to feel that the car pulls me to the left. Then I upgraded wheels and OTG rear shims. I guess I do need a 4 wheel aligment, right?
Do you guys think PepBoys it's a good choice instead the dealer?

I switch back and forth from my Hotchkis springs to stock ones and have never needed an alignment. No tire wear problems either.

I just dropped on Tein H-techs and monroes in the rear

The new wheels/tires are getting installed tomorrow and I'm having them do a 4 wheel alignment also - just in case.

/\/\/\ You shouldn't have to do one for just springs and rear shocks. I also don't think the rear alignment is adjustable.
