Default Largest Size Tire on a 17in wheel. Anyone know

For an XB. Well living in Jersey and driving your car to shows puts a harsness on wheels with no rubber. I was hoping to put a 225/45/17 or even a 225/50/17. Anyone have anything like this with no major complications. thanks. I was going to wait to get my car but I would like to have the rims ready to go when it gets here.

i have 215/45/17 on mine and lowered 2"... no rub..very clean.

but i have heard that with a 225 wide tires..it might rub ur wheel wells when turning...especially if it is lowered...

jesus cryst. finally bluebox, its been like a month and a half struggle to get those. if you do rub with the 225-50, you could just cut a little plastic in the well if it rubs at full turn, no biggie, and then its perfect and you have a mean look.

haha..thx joe for the acknowledgement... i know..it's been a real struggle...i've been wanting the Tanabe DF210... and have been patient waiting for them...but finally gave up due to back order. So i decided to go with Goldline Springs...they're really really good..i was impressed on the quality and performance. i took some pix of the installation, but unfortunately i used a disposable camera cuz my digi-cam ran out of battery. ne ways..once i get the pix developed and scanned...i'll post them up...finally.

haha...by the way joe... r u a TSW member?

225/50/17 you don't think will rub. Anyone do this yet? I'm more concerned with the height then the width.

i think it'll depend on how wide your wheel is, and what offset you're going to be running.

I have 205/40s on 17x7s w/ a 42 offset, and I barely have 1/4" space between my rear tire and the suspension arm.

I hear that, I'm running 215/40/17 w/ 40mm offset and my tire is like 1/8" from the arm. Its cool though.

Well for a 19in rim they lsit a 215/35/19 which is 5% off of stock height. So a 225/45/17 should work considering it's still only 5.2% over stock and when you are traveling 60 mph (speedo reading) you are actually going 63.1. As far as side sides I plan on using a different offset to fix that problem. Anyone running 225's if so what offset and rim width.

being lowered realy doesnt affect the clearance on the arm since the arm and wheel move together with the suspension travel. If you look at the drivers side rear wheel at about the 8:00 o-clock position, there is a "lug" that protrudes out of the trailing arm and is very close to the tire. This can also be seen in the 4:00 o-clock positon on the passenger side.
