Default Negative camber on driver’s side front wheel.

Has anyone seen a bagged XB showing Negative camber on the driver’s side front wheel while the passenger's side wheel stays neutral?

What would cause this?

my XB’s on hydraulics with 8 inch showtime tubes in the front. Now, looking more closely I can see that the Front Driver’s Side Wheel is Toe In and that’s my problem. In speaking with a Scion tech from the dealership it seems the adjustment is made in the rackin pinion. I’m told there is a nut you undo and readjust to correct the toe. I think, not knowing the toe was off and looking at the car from the front gave the impression that the camber was off on the left when it wasn’t. Well, I’ll find out Monday.

I see that your car is juiced. I don’t think there are too many of us out here so I was wondering if you could help me?

I don’t know how much an XB will take with out twisting the body. I’ m ok going back to front but side to side looks like it might be a problem. I parked it left side down and jacked up the right rear wheel and every thing seems to be ok but I wonder just how much punishment the XB will take. Have you tried hopping yours? I haven’t try to hop but I know the front will only go so high before ripping out the brake lines. The back seems to be another story and goes up pretty high.

How far do you feel you can drive away from home without the chance of a failure in the system. I mean, there’s always a change but how secure do you feel?

Any experience you have will be helpful and probably save me a bunch of money.
Thanks,

Jay, if I am not mistaken, pooty had air cylinders, not hydraulic cylinders up front. And I'm glad to see it was just a Toe issue on the front end. Hopefully getting that adjusted will solve your problems.

And I don't know of any other xBs on juice. Almost everyone goes with air on these cars. Who did your hydraulics install? Did Showtime themselves do it? There have been a couple of guys on air who claim to have issues with their car after hitting sides quite a bit. Most of the issues came in the form of poorly fitting rear doors. You might want to look into some sort of additional chassis and body bracing if you plan to hit sides or hop.

I couldn't make it by the show on Saturday either. My brother said he went by though and never saw your xB. Did you end up making it? I'd love to come check it out now that it's done. I'll be in town Thursday night for dinner and again on Friday afternoon. Let me know if we could meet up one of those days.

well I won't have a problem with the doors because they are welded shut. Also those are 16 gauge steel panels I welded in and they are reenforced. I worry about cracking the fill under the paint more then anything else. O, and twisting the whole car.

I will probably be at the A&W on Saturday Night. and will be cruising Visalia on Easter (That’s a big thing here)

My car is just lowered with cut springs and now new shorter shocks and struts and my driver side front is wearing on the inside of the tire and the driver rear is wearing on the outside of the tire, the passenger side looks to wearing normal on front and back.

this is the newest pic that I have it is about another 1 to 1 1/2 inches lower than this after the new shock and strut install.

Why the driver’s side? That’s like on my. There seems to be more negative camber on the driver’s side but why? I am having it alined tomorrow and I’m changing rims. These wire wheel I have made look good but what a pain in the butt.

P.S. if anyone wants them let me know.

I guess if I don't have anything going on Saturday night I could drive down to A&W. And I know all about Easter Cruising in Visalia. When I used to run with a couple of different truck clubs we would get "hated on" by all of the low riders when we would take our bagged trucks through Mooney's Grove.

And yeah, you will definitely want to be careful with body flex considering how much filler is probably under that paint. (Not to say that it is excessive, but a DOOR is a huge patch panel.)

Also the camber issue may very well be toe. I am sure the alignment guy can determine the problem for certain. And if you want a good alignment shop I would recommend the one on East Main just past Valley Oaks Dr. (East) on the North East side of the road. It is just past that old car lot that was on the corner.

And if I don't see you at A&W, you'll probably see my brother and his girl. They'll be in a green '95 Chevy reg. cab that is laid out on 20" and 22" centerlines.

By the way... what wheels are you planning next?

I'm a little bent over this wheels haven’t to be replaced so forgive me but I can’t even remember what brand the new wheels are. I’m going to aline the car with the stock wheels tomorrow, put the new ones on and drive home. I’m not as worried about the filler as I was, now it’s the mounting point for the pumps that has me concerned. I might need to weld in a brace. I drove the car today and there is some shaking in the pump brackets and I worry it might fail at the floor. It shouldn’t be hard to fix but I am going to make the repair without pulling anything a part so I don’t know how I will do it yet.

The front end is tight. I told the guy to install accumulators now the front end but he “forgot”

Ok, after the hydraulics were welded in the only adjustment left as far as alignment is the toe. No one told me this before the hydraulics were installed If you don’t get your camber right you have to cut the weld readjust and re-weld. As far as a nut, it’s just the toe adjustment the guy was trying to explain to me in a backwards way. This guy basically told me “there is some nut”. Turns out he was just trying to say “have someone adjust the toe”

I have had the car aligned and now the toes spot on. My camber on the driver’s side is still a little off but not enough to worry about. I mean, it’s not a race car after all.

That sucks that your camber is still off Jay. Who did the hydraulic install for you? You would think if they knew they wouldn't be able to adjust it afterward they would have made sure that it was set within spec.

And I still haven't had a chance to see your car. I was down in Visalia for Easter, but we split around 5 and never had a chance to check Mooney's grove or Mooney Blvd. My bro's g/f did say that she thought she saw you driving down Mooney, but didn't get a good view of your car because of the divider.
