Lowering springs ... does it or doesnt it void the warranty?
I want to Lower my Box 2.2" in the front and 2" in the rear using lowering springs ... just wondering does it void the warranty if you do not use the dealers product.
No aftermarket products will instantly void a warranty.
The only issue will be if they can prove that a non-OEM part caused a problem you have - then that problem will not be covered under warranty for repair.
For example, if your shocks blow out (example, not saying they would), and they can prove that they blew because you lowered it - they wouldn't replace the shocks under warranty.

if you have aftermarket springs and you have a problem with your suspension it might not be covered. Are you planning on doing the install yourself, or having a shop do it? If you have a shop do it and something goes wrong they would probably be liable
If the shop installs something wrong they are liable for the repairs. I'm not talking about blown shocks or struts, but other suspention componants, or other damage caused by improperly installed parts.
so i called the dealer to ask them for an answer... they said IF you use there TRD stuff and installed BY the dealer, it DOESNT NOT void the warranty. but if you install aftermark stuff it voids the warranty out on whatever aftermarket stuff you put on.
thx guys for the reply. Ive just heard like a million different stories and i fianlly called the dealer.

If the dealer is stating that if you
A- buy a TRD part and put it on your car, you void the TRD part's warranty.........why are you asking the dealer? Ask TRD.
B) buy a TRD part (or any part) and place it on your vehicle, you void (as in 100%) your warranty, that's wrong.
You're missing the real point- if the dealership THINKS that a part that YOU have installed has adversely affected the warrantied vehicle, they can just refuse to service it. No warranty void necessary, and it is completely within their rights as a business.
Now, before everyone gets their panties in a twist with "The dealership HAS to repair this- it's under warranty," "that's discrimination!!"" that's illegal" blah blah blah............ let's bring ourselves back into the real world.
EXAMPLE:
You purchase some TRD lowering springs online, put them in with a friend. Your car is 3 months old, yet the struts blow out in 2 weeks. You take it to the dealership and they refuse to repair the struts because you have modified the suspension of the car. You complain, state that you will take them to court, etc.
Will you? No.
At best, you can take it to another dealership that may be more sympathetic or just go out and replace them with better aftermarket ones.
If one dealership enters your VIN into their database and puts a "do not honor suspension warranty" in there.............well, I can understand that. If they put a "do not honor ANY warranty whatsoever" then I have an issue.

That is all well and good. The dealership is within their right to deny service to your vehicle. But they had better be prepared when you go above their head. Toyota/Scion is still required to fulfill their warranty obligations. It is their burden to prove that any modification you have made is what caused the failure that needs to be warranted.
The other thing to keep in mind is that by law warranty work does not have to be performed by a dealership! You are well within your right to have warranty work performed at any mechanics, or even on your own. However, you must pay out of pocket and then send in a request for reimbursement to the manufacturer. This can get tricky, and sometimes turns into a fight to get reimbursed.

I had some aftermarket lowering springs installed on my box by the dealership. they were sold to me at the dealership and put on my box at time of purchase. so nope no worries it won't void anything
mine are also for sale if you want them
