Yep! I had to do mine a few months ago. It was just this side of $300 total. I did some calling around and that seemed to be the going rate of all the windshield shops I talked to here in WA state. That's aftermarket glass by the way, not Toyota glass.

For aftermarket windshield glass on the xB my first choice is Fuyao Glass and my second is PPG. As to who to do the work, I don't really know - just about any glass company will do it, but I've yet to find one that I'm totally happy with. Safelite is as good as any and their prices are within reason.

When whoever is done with the work, inspect it, and make sure the glass fits the same as the factory glass did.

Good luck.

Just got mine done last friday for 216 and change... looks good.. tho upon close look top center edge is sticking out about 1/4 inch or less... not flush like other xB's so will be taking it to the shop to have them look at it and have them redo it

That was the problem I had with my first replacement install that I refused to accept, Kekai - top center bowed outward about a half inch on mine, and the gap was filled with that black goop they use.

That is unacceptable, since the windshield is an integral part of the safety of the vehicle.

(My first replacement glass was "Pilkington" brand, and not only had the wrong curve to it, much of it was very "wavy" looking through it.)

Anyway, the edge of the windshield - both sides and the entire top of it, should be slightly recessed into the frame.

Two questions: Who did the work and what brand replacement glass did they use?

GlasPro did the work... not sure on the glass type.. but clarity is great.... just seems to bow out about 1/4 inch or so top center... but no black goop or anything looks just like OEM seal/gasket/molding.. whatever you want to call it... doesnt look like caulking you squeeze out.... deffinatly looks pre-made rubber seal of some sort...

will be taking it in this am after i get off work for them to check it out... they supposedly do most of the glass replacement for Doxon Toyota/Scion so its not like this is the first they've done...

will keep ya posted

Heres a horror story that will make you feel better. About a month and a half ago I was driving on the highway to work and a car in front of me kicked up 2 small cement rocks and they nailed my windshield right square in the middle. Of course my insurance has a deductible of $1000 so it was out of the question. So I paid the $300 for a new windshield and had it installed. The very next day it happened again! This time it hit me in the upper right corner. If you believe in luck then you would think I have the worst in the world. Anyways, I was explaining my story to the guy who came a replaced my 2nd windshield and he told me a story about a woman, the week before that, who was on the highway in the same kinda car (xB) who was riding behind an 18 wheeler and some kind of metal caliper or something fell of the truck and went right threw the windshield and hit her in the head. Apparently she was in intensive care for 3 days before she finally passed on. So my $600 down the drain feels like a godsend.

Yup. I somehow expected it to be a Pilkington. Sounds like it fits just like the Pilkington I rejected: With the verticle sides of the windshield recessed as far as possible the top-center of it was still forward of the roof in the center - the curve of the windshield was just plain wrong, while the Fuyao and PPG windshields fit perfectly.)

Look at twenty xBs with factory (OEM) windshields and see how they all fit - your replacement should fit exactly the same way.

Good luck!!!

Just got my first rock chip today on the way home from work.Just above the speedo.I went right to novas and had it fixed.I know I will be replacing the windshield soon if this keeps up.It sucks!!!!!!!!

Is there some kind of protective coating of skin cover to put on windshields to keep them from cracking so easy like ours???

Bullet resistant glass only prevents penetration, it doesn't prevent the outside layer from starring or cracking - sorta like, uh, a windshield.

I live in West Virginia, so there are alot of Coal Hauling Trucks here...I was on the interstate and a big truck kicked out a couple of large pieces of coal...one hit right below the passenger side windshield wiper, and cracked it about 10 inches...and the other hit right between the windshield and the passenger side door window putting a huge gash in my paint also...that threw me into a whole new world of ticked off I've never been to before...!!!

I just searched the web for places that will pay my deductible so I don't have to pay anything. AAA says that windshield claims won't affect my rates either.
