OK, I understand what offset is, but, what offset would you use to not have to use spacers at all?
Offset moves the wheel in or out but what is positive offset and what is negative offset, I mean does +40 offset versus +45 oddset mean that 45 offset makes the wheel stick out more than a +40 offset or ie: move the wheel out more?
I would like to use 18 inch wheels from ADR, what offset do i need to get to not have to use spacers and how big a tire can i stick on them without rubbing or other clearance issues?

Basic thoughts:
•Do not run higher than a +45 offset on an xB w/o spacers.

•Anything between +40 and +20 you should be fine w/o spacers.

•The higher the offset, the closer to the body the wheels will be.

•A negative offset pushes the wheels WAY out. You probably won't want to run that. Think rubbing (or at least a lot of bodywork not to rub if you're lowered). Most cars with real low offests (think +20 and under) are rear-wheel drive.

if you order a set of wheels with the same offset front and rear, spacers will make the rear look even with the front as far as spacing goes since the xB and xA have that weird look in the back where the wheels sit too far in. This is why many run OTG shims.
