Were it a human being, it would be a male intellectual with a Harvard or MIT degree who, self-conscious about his mental prowess, thinking that it made him seem soft in the eyes of real men, would much prefer talking about his stellar performance in rugby or some other sport requiring close physical contact.

Another gas-guzzling triumph of form over function for people whose lives are so meaningless they have to define themselves by the cars they drive. There is no reason for the 2WD version to even exist, and like all SUVs, 95% of the 4WD versions will never see anything but pavement.

Meh.

I found the FJ to have a terribly designed interior. It's like trying to jump into a shoe box with the shoes already in it.

I find it amazing that you can bash Toyota for manufacturing a limited production vehicle for it's customers who are outdoor enthusiates and love the heritage of the Land Cruisers of latter day like the FJ40. Since that is pretty much what Scion is doing right now, just to a different market. I also can hardly call it a "gas guzzler". The Honda Element, with its 4 cylinder engine only gets 2 MPG (EPA rating) better than the FJ. This is an automobile that is marketed to the same customers as the Nissan Xterra, Jeep Liberty, and the like. Talk about gas guzzling and horrible residual!! Not to mention poor build quality!

P.S. - It is made in a two wheel drive version for people that live in Southern America and don't need to buy a 4x4. Plus the 2WD versions have LSD and a locking rear axle and have better resale value for those that want better MPG.
