Default Overlays/Eyelids

I tried to search, but couldnt get a specific answer...

Can I maker make my own tail overlays / headlight eyelids using window tint? I think it would be better for me than to buy some premade overlays, because I would rather not spend the money to get a single set, and then screw it up while putting them on.

Also, what % tint works the best?

Thanks

Using tint would likely give you much less of a quality overlay - especially since the tint material is more of an "interior" item as tint.

Technically I guess you could try it though.

Regular window tint is a fragile item + will tear for the exterior of the car. For the eyelids, I would use vinyl. You could go to a local graphic shop( some one who does car decals) + purchase a pc of vinyl( your choice in color, it depends on what they carry) Design, cut out + apply. Maybe for f your decision in % tint you could stop by a car window tinter + see their sample pcs. Good Luck! .
PS they do sell vinyl plastic tint, but it is more of a cling on + easy removal product

Window tint isn't going to give the results you expect.

A kit is going to give a better result - most are made from much thicker material originally designed (in clear) to protect headlights for years.

TYC tails and our Standard 30% Smoke kit with the running lights on. There is a darker 20% version available too.

They are pretty easy to install too! Full DIY xB smoked taillight install here

Good Luck

I don't think the window tint will get you the look your lookin for either. Try a place that makes stickers and decals.

For the headlight eyelids, you can use a dark black vinyl or a simulated carbon fiber vinyl. I've rocked the vinyl eyelids in the past. Good luck.

i run a signs and graphics company and have a bunch of avery carbon fiber vynil but in my opinion dont do it cause it wont last and personally i think it looks cheap , im actually still tring to get rid of 90% of that roll. go with headlight armor if you want to tint your head/tail lights and you can get a real carbon fiber overlay from prracing or other suppliers
