Default Front Sway Bar - Front Strut Tiebar - Different effects

I read the stickies about sway bars.

My understanding is that many consider messing with the stock front sway bar to be a waste of time and energy that promotes understeer.

I am not clear if the adding a front strut tie bar also contributes to understeer. I have read a post to that effect. But I want a reality check.

Thanks

I had the Hotchkiss strut bar put on and I think I corner better. Strut bar is what you mean--isn't it??

I know where this confusion is from....

Some of the intent of a front strut bar is to reduce understeer (add front grip) by maintaining negatiive camber of the front wheels during cornering. This works when the front and rear chassis are reasonably balanced in roll stiffness. However, the benefit a front strut bar provides in the front can be significantly reduced if there is a large imbalance of roll stiffness from front to rear as the inside front wheel lifts in cornering.

Previous comments by myself perhaps overstated that there is understeer due to the addition to a front strut bar without adding the rear roll stiffness. A better way to state this is that the front strut bar is not working to it's potential to reduce understeer when there is a large imbalance of front to rear roll stiffness.

So if I am understanding this correctly. Given a bunch of variables, if a rear anti-sway bar is added with a front strut bar the understeer effects are minimized.

My current working assumption is that adding both a rear anti-sway bar with a front strut bar with improve handling on twisty roads.

Thanks

Understeer + car + wall = bad... I'd do some research on FF vehicle racing teams (that race circuit not drag) and see the different types of set ups they use.
