your building a system not one thing always makes the most difference springs do alot over all all around. when you add in other stuff it should complament it. not one thing is always better than another but when used together are better than either alone for obvious reasons.
yeah I know, but my budget only allows me to get one thing until next next pay day and I'm wanting to know which one of the two would be the best choice to get first time around. But I will be getting both, just that my budget doesnt allow for both at once.
if you don't already have a good spring/strut setup save up for that. a matched sway bar set will also compliment the suspension after the springs/struts. don't waste your time thinking an underbrace will improve handling drastically. think of them as finishing pieces after your main suspension components have been upgraded.
If you search the threads here and elsewhere, the general consensus is to add a rear sway bar, either the progress or trd unit, before doing anything else. Changing the front bar is a serious chore, and not necessarily beneficial.
Adding the progress bar to my xB definitely holds the car flatter in hard cornering, and the handling is more neutral at the limit, with reduced understeer. Zero effect on the ride quality, near as I can tell.
After that, a front upper strut bar is probably the most cost effective, with the underbraces you mention being the least effective in terms of cost for street driving...
I'm not prepared to go with lowering springs because of snow, chuckholes and humungous speed bumps around here locally, and the chuckholes dictate pretty tall tire sidewalls, too. While having the alloys mounted on my xB, a gal came in with a very badly dented 18" wheel and low profile tire- the tire shop guys say they see a lot of it...
