Default Paint Codes

Not sure where I should put this post but where can I find paint codes at? I want to find a shade of green or purple but don't know what hte code of the color would be.

Do they have like sample books or something somewhere? a colorwheel lol ?

hmmm.... if its a stock color of a particular car/truck... i'd guess paintscratch.com may be able to pull it up for you... if you know year/make/model......

other than that... guess go to a local autopaint store and see what they got onhand.... or can mix for you

if it is a stock color on any car, you can look it up on the web/dealerships.

if it is a custom color you want, talk to a body shop. they have all kinds of books, color chips, mixing charts....

Yea it would be a custom color. Looking for a deep plum purple color. If I could find it on a car it would be easier I was hoping they had some sort of book online i could look at

i'll tell you not to look on line....

the colors on a monitor are never exact. go look at the paint card in sunlight. they will look soo differnet.

you could try getting an idea from house of kolor. they have some nice paints.

http://www.houseofkolor.com/hok/index.jsp

but wait till you see the color in the sun before you decide.

looking at a book online wouldnt be the same, you could send house a color a few bucks and they'll send you a book. or just go to a paint supply place and they should have some books on hand for you, just remeber to look at the outside.

lol, dang by a min. glad to see some one else was thinkin the samething

Go to the body shop that you're having the paintwork done at and ask to see their paint chip books. That way there will be no miscommunication between you and the shop and you can see the actual paint too.

It's a little bit of legwork, but you'll certainly want to do that if you're planning on painting.

Agreed. Thanks. Was trying to knock some work out of the way while sitting at work...
