All flat-back vehicles have this problem because of the partial vacuum created behind them while in motion, unless they have a deflector that splits some of the airflow going over the top of the vehicle so that it is directed down the back surface.

I've had that sort of deflector on some of my flat back vehicles and there was an appreciable difference, especially on the rear glass, after installing them.

The negative is they DO increase drag a bit, and may not be especially good looking - possibly why I haven't seen any for the xB.

Think that the box is bad? Look at the back of a Matrix. Buddy of mine had one before I got the box and it was a mess. The principle Tomas speaks of is correct. If you want to see it in action, go to a stream or river or even create flow on your driveway with water, then put an obsticle in the way, you will see this little back swirl, (eddies) same thing happens with the box, if you have a spoiler and say a bodykit with a lower rear spoilerlike design, (fab) then it will extend out the area that causes the back swirl and make the box less dirty.

use one of those magic dusters, that's what I do. They work great for pollen and dust, water spots after rain that is another story. FAB style spoiler here I come!

here in hawaii it rains a lot. i use to was it and wax my car like twice or even three times a week. But with the weather and my job, its pretty much went down to wash once a week and wax one in two weeks.

how do you find the time to wash and wax that often? yeah it does rain a lot here. what i hate most about washing my car is that as soon as i wash it rain clouds appear out of nowhere.

I thought you were going to say "Didn't you notice you're driving a box?"

Some people say that to me at random.

And yes, it's one dirty box =( I need to wash mine today, so I can install my taillight overlays.

Don't know if its been mentioned.
I used to have a DIRTY rear, but once I took off the wiper dirt has decreased. ESPECIALLY on the window. Now I just get it on the rear lip. It dirty's at about the same speed the rest of the vehicle does. (BOP)

Part of the reason I chose the TCM was that it doesn't show the dirt as bad...

And the BCP is an absolutely goregeous auto color that I'll never own, for exactly the opposite reason...

Default i'm not so shure.

peeps who say that tcm doesn't show the dirt. i don't really know about that. yea in dry weather i can just wipe it off, but when it rains it's a whole different story. or maybe it's just me cuz i'm really ****.
