why not.... the progress rear is so much better than the hotckis rear.. and a front sway would only help stiffen up the box

The front swaybar will increase understeer, which you won't want. Honestly, I don't understand why companies are offering thicker front saybars. Does anyone know why?

Sounds like a good setup to me. You can get F&R Hotchkis for about $160 shipped vs the Progress R for $140. I was thinking of buying both and selling the Hotchkis R but I doubt anyone wants it. Maybe just stiffer bushings on the stock F would be good enough with the Progress R.

I believe squirrel ran the hotchkis front and progress rear bar and liked it.

I have a whiteline rear bar which is supposed to be a lot stiffer than the Progress. I couldnt imagine a stiffer front end. Understeer is my enemy. The rear end is great as it is. I may upgrade teh front bushings to polyurethane but I doubt I will get a front bar.

I'm thinking with the Whiteline out back the front stocker should be about perfect. Maybe just some urethane bushings for the front.

Upgrading the front sway bar, especially with a sub par piece from Hotchiks, is pointless.

Have you even taken a look at the stock front sway bar? It's solid, and looks like it weighs 70 lbs.

Hotchkis bars arent bad at all. I dont like their setup for the rear of the xB much but Ive had their bars on two other cars of mine and they were perfect.

No doubt the stock front sway is solid. Don't believe it, then take a grinder to it and see where you get. Saw the results of that this past weekend.

From everything I've read. It sounds like leaving the front bar and adding urethane bushings is the way to go up front. The back you have all sorts of options. They all complement the front bar just fine.

I asked the same question on another forum before and like jethro_b said urethane bushings was the way everyone told me to go. However I suppose it just depends on what you want to do. Don't forget the rear sway bar is a piece O cake compared to the front sway bar. I've heard of some people having problems trying to DIY the front sways. Then again it's a "I heard my friend of a friend of his cousin's little sisters older brother.". . .lol. I'd like to hear what the guys who auto cross the xB say. Also I don't see many JDM swaybars or any at all. Most of the things I see are frame braces. Why is that?

Basically the front bar is stout enough and the rear bars that you add on make the car balance very well. If there was a way to make the rear bar make the car oversteer alot more than the current parts do you would see more bars but the design of the rear has its limitations. I do not autocross my xB in events but the punishment I put it through on the street is more or less the same driving.

I kind of figured on that, but what if anything would the urethane bushings do?

My guess would be to tighten up the front OEM bar more.
