so if I want to drop the car maybe a few inches.... will it hurt anything? About how much would I be looking to spend?

 

For springs, shocks, camber kit, and labor. Have about $1000.00 on hand, not that you would spend it all but just for safety reasons. As far as how low, no more than 2 inches for me. I had the 18" TRD rims with the TRD springs but I went lower and rims got smaller for a better ride.

 

Oh yeah! It wouldn't hurt a thing!!!

 

Cheap (most common) option: Springs only, $100-200 plus labor (really easy)

Midgrade option: Springs and struts/shocks, $500-800 plus labor

Top of the line: Coilovers, $1200-2000 plus labor

FWIW, my xA is lowered with KSport springs ($100) and I installed them myself in about an hour. Nice ride quality, handling improvement, and looks.

 

You don't need to spend $1,000.

A simple set of lowering springs will cost you around $200, and you can install them yourself in a few hours using a buddy, a case of beer, and the instructions found in the tech section of this site.

Or pay to have them installed, prices vary.

Your car will run fine. You may need an alignment depending on how low you go, but that's about it.

YOU NEED AFTERMARKET SHOCKS!!! You'll make the factory shocks work too hard and they'll give out! Ask a tech.

 

Would upgraded shocks be a good idea? Sure. Do you NEED them? No....

The problem you'll run into is that you're stock shocks may give out sooner than they normally would at stock height. At that time you can buy new(upgraded) ones. No need to throw out the perfectly good stock shocks before they go bad.

If you want to spend $1,000 dollars on a whole new suspension to lower you car, fine. But if you think you NEED to spend that much, you've been listening to too many "techs"...

yeah, so far im at 20k miles on my xa with tein s tech (about a 2" drop) and i havent had any problems with my struts, yes i will be upgradeing mine soon though, but maybe not for awhile, but its a great ride so far!
