my egg finally drags
Dave statred working on it and now he has got it to where my egg can drag..throws pretty sparks at night..lol...as soon as we can..i'm going to make a video of it and i'll get it posted on here..
What are you using as drag blocks? tried and true ball hitches? Ive been thinkin of putting some on mine to drag. But id like to put them on a flexible bar or something so they have a sort of suspension. Dragging a unibody is much more scary then dragging frame. Isnt there like titanium blocks that throw different sparks? I wish i knew more about this. >Mikey
yes the old ball hitches. They are mounted on a bracket made of 1/4 steel welded to the frame in the rear. Kind of a quick fix for a show we went to but it will soon be changed. Kicking around the idea of a spring loaded bar with titanium cause the ball hitches don't last that long and titanium holds up better

OK guys... I am going to let you in on a little secret. Forget the Trailer ball hitches. That is pretty much as ghetto as it gets. Titanium drag blocks are great if you don't mind spending all that money to get pretty colors when you drag.
So what should you be using? What works better than anything else out there? Leaf Springs. Yup, dirt cheap. People will just give them to you, leaf springs. You set them up like skis. And you don't need a whole pack, just one leaf per side. The first time I ever drove a truck set up this way I was amazed. The truck wasn't dragging along the pavement like a typical frame rail, it was SLIDING. The other nice thing is that if you build the mounts right the springs actually have some give to them and act almost like a suspension. The other nice thing? They last dang near forever.
So there is a tip from me to you. One that most people "in the industry" aren't even aware of.

well it was a fast set up for a show we did..but no it doesn't look ghetto, and even tho we used trailer ball hitches, it throws pretty damn good sparks...but like my hubby posted we are in the works of changing everything...
