Default don't mind my few noob ?'s

so i've been poking around the sight for a little bit and i decided to make an account so i can get some opinions..

i plan on buying a brand new scion Xb at the end of the summer, i was looking at rims for it and i really like the TRD 18" rim option, now, are they worth the $2000 that they are? or should i buy other aftermarket rims. I like the 5 spoke design and if i were to buy other aftermarket rims they'd be probobly very similar. but i wouldn't e be able to purchase them for probobly 6 months after a buy the car, and i dont know about everyone else, but i think the stock hubcaps are hideous/

Also, do they also allow you to keep the standard steelies to put on in the winter? or will the TRD one's hold up? because the idea of driving around in ohio for 5 months of winter on $2000 rims doesn't seem to hot.

thanks for any help, don't mind me, the noob that the Xb bug bit

You should be able to get a good set of rims and tires for $1000 or less. Yes, you can finance the $2000 rims--but that drives up the price quite a bit. Think of it as a $2000 down payment that reduces your payment. As to driving on steelies--take a look at this post for a low cost mod that looks pretty sweet:

no, this is a very legitimate question.

i got my xB used, so mine already had the 18" TRD wheels with Pirelli tires on it, so I can't really say much about price, EXCEPT for the fact that if you want exclusively the TRD wheels, you will only find them through the dealer, as RacingHart doesn't make that wheel anymore (you may get lucky and find some sets still floating around on ebay or online wheel stores).

however, if you just want 5-spoke 18" wheels, there are many more less expensive options that offer good looks and good performance and such.

when i bought my car, the TRD's were already on there, and the sales guy i dealt with was cool, so he threw in the stock wheels for free. i just paid 300 bucks for stock tires. (don't ask, it was my parents' decision)

so yeah, i'm sure most people will say buy as little as possible from the dealer, cuz you will likely find better offers on the net.

Look aftermarket... you'll save your self $$...

But if you want the rims now and really like the TRD ones and get them from the dealer, they should give you the stock stealies as well, you bought them so they are yours dont leave w/o them, at worse you can sell them later for some extra $$.
If the dealer wont let you have them, and claim its an exchange.. $2000+exchange of stock tires.. thats BS either fight to get your stealies, get a decent discount off the TRDs(find out how much they charge for a set of stealies and get that price) or Take your business elsewhere

unless things have changed.. i dont think scion.com says wheel package is with exchange of stealies. so you should get them. same thing if you get the TYC tails... you should get your stock ones in a box too... think the only thing they get a core exchange credit on is the radio upgrades...

I love my wheels! I haven't found very many wheels that look as good. They really set it off. I was a little leary about the price but after looking around I decided that there were no other wheels for me. The price bothering you goes away after a while. Good luck!

I think I read somplace that when you buy the wheels installed, they are also covered by the factory warranty. This may be a little added bonus.

yup, this is true. i got a tire bubble in one of my pirelli's soon after i got the car, and the dealer replaced it for me, no charge.

for winter, definitely get a set of winter wheels and tires because though the pirelli tires may be M+S, they really are just summer wheels. i use the stock setup for winter driving.
