OK so after reading through the postings it seems that the 2 best options for lowering springs are Tanabe or Gold-Line. Does this sound right to everyone? I just got my XA and am sooo anxious to drop it and then start trickin' it out.

Can some of you chime in who actually own either of these springs and tell me some of the good things AND BAD THINGS about them? Like does it drop too low. ride too rough, bounce outta control, etc.

If you own something else... chime in as well and let me know why you chose something else and how happy you are with your decision.

I've had my Goldlines on for over a year without any problems and I think the ride is better than stock.

 

Hmmm and what are coil covers and do I NEED them?

Coilovers are adjustable, you don't need them unless a) you are planning on racing or b) a2" drop isn't low enough for you.

 

Tein H-Techs are awesome. Smoother ride than stock, but only moderate drop. (1-1/2"). I got these cause I didn't want to effect the smooth ride. Reduced body roll though, and I love them.

I have the DF210's. I have had them on for about 16 months now. The quality of the springs are great. The ride is a bit bouncy, especially in the back seats. I have swapped out the rear stock shocks with the Koni adjustables, but it is still pretty bouncy. I will be ordering front shocks soon, and hopefully things will smoothen out a bit. The ride height is considerably lower than stock, however, I wish they were just a tad bit lower. Must be the rice in me

If you want the lowest drop without going with coilovers or airbags, Tanabe, Goldline, or HKS are definitely the way to go.

i had my DF210s installed a little bit ago, and i know they havent settled yet, but here are my first impressions:

-ride quality is just as good as stock, if not better. but it does get a bit bouncy depending on road conditions.

- the drop is sick! i would have to agree with etauri in saying i wished it was just a bit lower, but for just springs, it is a sweet drop.

i have had Goldlines on previous vehicles, but so far i like the Tanabes WAY better. just my $.02

Aight so I think I am leaning toward Gold-Lines...

A couple of you have said that the Tanabes are a little bouncy and they only give about a 1" drop.

soooo... What about those of you who have the Gold-Lines? Do you notice a bounce and how much drop will they give me?

the Tanabe DF210s have a 2.2"F and 2.0"R drop. the bounce isnt that bad, it just depends on road contitions. but honestly, either company produces a quality product.

 

My tanabe df210s just got in yesterday and I will be installing tomorrow. Going from TRDS to tanabe.

 

I GOT GOLDLINES AND THE ARE WAY BETTER THAN STOCK! THEY ARE A 2" DROP AND NOT THAT BOUNCY BUT LIKE KISS SAID IT DEPEND'S ON ROAD CONDITIONS. ALSO IF YOU WANT THE FRONT TO LOOK A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE REAR THAN THE TANABE'S IS WHAT YOU WANT.

 

ok i have the tanabe springs in. The car seems to vibrate a bit now but it looks awsome. The rear fenders rub under full load but i have 18s and beefy wide tires so it might be the reason along with the OTG rear shims and monroe rear shocks. Overall the TRD seem to be of better quality but i like the drop on the tanabe df210s

 

Just go w/ the HKS springs. The drop is amazing for coil springs. Great ride too. I think they are the lowest spring you can buy without going coilover or bagged.

 

Shocks aren't needed in addition to the spring. However, be aware that your shocks will wear prematurely when using lowering springs. The ride won't be too different from stock initially, but several thousand miles later you will realize that the ride is much bouncier than before. My cousin has the Goldlines and the same thing applies. The drop is definitely more than 1", more like 2"+. Both springs seem to be good choices, so it's really up to you. '

The Tanabe springs come with a couple of extras that I don't believe the Goldlines come with. My box came with the following:

Springs
Springs Wrapping (Used to wrap around the rear springs to dampen noise)
License Plate Frame
Stickers

Whichever spring you choose, you should be okay. It's more preference at this point.

You'll be happier going with the goldlines. I had them in my xa and the ride is way better than stock. Stock=rough. Goldline=stiff but confi. After my xA got totalled I sold them to my friend who had the tanabes. His words where that the goldlines felt better and handled better. My personal opinion is that the goldlines are less bouncy, will drop you more and will make you feel more in contact with the road. Up to you now man.
