Default Anyone used any of these in a 205/40-17

It's time for new tires and I wanna stay away from the Falkens that I have now..too loud and no grip. I am looking at the following in a 205/40-17, anyone had any of these?

I read the reviews on the Ecsta 711 and they seem very promising. I am also looking at the BF Goodrich G-Force sport os if you have used that tire, lemme know!

Those are the tires I am replacing. I'm sorry to tell you I had very bad luck with those tires. I had uneven wear and they got really noisy after 15k miles. I asked a friend that works at Discount Tire about those problems and he said they are common. Thanks for the suggestion and I hope you have better luck with yours.

I think I'll end up going with the Kumhos. I can't buy what I really want since shipping to Germany is damed ridiculous and tires here are way overpriced by about 2x. Thanks for the reply!

Kuhmo ecsta 711's all the way. I like how quiet they are compared to the Nankangs I had. BTW 205/40/17's are too small and under weight rated for the xB. Tire Rack won't even sell them to xB owners because of that. Go with 205/45/17 and be safe out there.

and their diameter is a little lower that stock too, so it would throw your spedo off. Go with 215/45/17. They are exactly the same size as the stock ones.

I'm usually pretty good at knowing what tire size will work with what vehicle, but I'm glad you mentioned that the 205/40 is not weight rated for the xB. Thanks!

To duplicate the exact same thing I just posted in another thread...

If you really want to do your best to match the stock diameter with 17" wheels you are all wrong. You should be looking for 215/40/17 tires.

Stock diameter is 23.74". 215/40/17 diameter is 23.77".

This is a common size and is available from all of your normal retail tire sources.

205/40/17 is too small , an incorrect size.

you want 205/45/17 or 215/40/17

i have kumho 711's in 215/40/15 , best cheap tire i've ever owned. about the same quality and grip as my beloved yokoham avs es100's.

oh and 215/45 is too large .

i got my kumho's for 54.00 each from tirerack.com

I am gonna go ahead and pickup the 215/45-17...same size I have now. I can't wait to be rid of the Falkens, they are so noisy. One my old Dakota R/T I ran the Kumho Ecsta 712's and loved them, but they are little higher end tire than the 711. I'm sure I'll like them if I don't decide to pony up the extra cash for the BF Goodrich G-Forces.

That tire size has worked well for me so far...a good mix of cornering and comfort. I am lowered with the Eibach ProKit and all I had to trim was a 1/2" long and 1/4" wide piece of plastic fender liner. I really didn't need to because it only caused a tiny noise at full lock on the driver side.
