Default 15” vs 17” based on weight

I am considering purchasing wheels for my new Box. Curious if going to 17” wheels and tires will negatively effect the performance and mileage? The 17” wheels I am considering running weigh 17 lbs each, the 15” weigh 12 lbs each. What do the stock steelies weigh? Anybody notice a drop in power or mileage when switching to 17’s

Considering that most 215/40/17 tires weight in between 19 and 23 lbs. you will probably be very close to stock weight. If I remember correcltly stock steelies are somewhere around 36-38 lbs. Can't remember the exact number.

So if you go with the 17s the weight will be about the same. If you switch to aluminum 15s you'll reduce your weight by probably about 5 lbs.

Hope that helps.
