Default Has anybody had bad experiences with 18" and lowered?

Hello all, I'm new here and have a quick question(s). Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but I did try searching.

Anywys, I'm in the proecss of ordering a new set of shoes for my xB and was wondering if anybody regrets putting 18" wheels on their box while being lowered.

Also, what is the lowest you would recommend lowering without having any issues.
What is a good offset for the wheels.
Is a series 40 tire safe to use or is 35 recommended.

My plan is to use an 18" wheel with a 225/40/18 tire, lowered 1 1/2" all the way around. I'm just covering my ___ before I go ordering everything.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

215/35/18 is the properly sized tire for the xB. If you absolutely have to have more tire under the car you can jump up to a 225/35/18. I wouldn't go any larger than that though. Anything in a 40 series is likely to rub. Especially with a 1.5" drop.

X2 If you want more tire go with 17's and 215/40 tire.

Newb here and i'm thinking of a similar set up. I'm looking at 18x8 wheels, 40 mm offset with a 1.5 inch drop front and rear. Anyone with a similar set up? i definitly don't want any rubbing whatsoever.

I have my set up as 18x7 45mm offset with a 225/40/18.
I just dropped the ride on TRD springs as I didnt want to go that low.
And if I could do it again, the first thing I do is getting 17 inch wheels
While the 18s look great, I think that an inch doesnt make a difference in IMO.

But if you still want the 18s then go with the 215/35/18
You should have no rubbing issues like me

On that set up what kind of offset would be best? Like if you want everything to be flush with the wheel wells all the way around?

We have a set of 18"s on our xB (215-35 tires) with a 2" drop. No rubbing and looks great. No wheel gap at all.

Im selling a set of 18" rims with 225/40/18 tires. I ran it with a 2.75" drop on the front and no drop in the rear. The front definately rubbed a little at full wheel turn. The rears just barely rubbed on the inside of the wheel well on the torsion bar but that could have been easily stopped with a 5mm spacer. The front rubbing issue could be fixed as well with spacers. Im just tired of the 18"s and they looked great! It was worth every second of rubbing. I decided to go down to a 15" or 16" rim because now im more into performance than I am with winning show trophies...

BUY MY RIMS. Especially the guy in Philly. Im right up the road...

What I mean is....What offset makes it flush (as if you were looking down the side of it from the back) with the edge of the wheel wells.

so what you're saying is that I could keep my 225/40/18 and as long as I get some spacers and I should have little or minimal rubbing? My box is lowered on s.techs (1.5") and I dont mind removing the wheel well plastics.

might have to roll your fenders also, mount a tire on with your spacers and see where you stand

Yeah you can get away with it. Toyota has a factory built show Scion that runs 225/40/18 and with the right spacing they got it to not rub. I didnt get a chance to look it over very well the last time I saw it in person but somehow they made it work...

Im running 18s with this size tire and I rub in the front on full turns. Im prob going to go with clearing out what is making it rub and going with the Shims in the rear 10mm should hopefully make it flush and no more rubbing
