Can't speak for the xA, but I've had the Hotchkis Stage 1 suspension on my box for almost 2 years and the stock shocks are fine.

Before any Hotchkis lover's say anything towards my reply to this post, here is my answer for you, I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK or HOW GREAT HOTCHKIS IS FOR YOU!! Ive had many problem in the past with other scionlife memebrs saying that i bash on these springs, well i DO and once again THEY SUCK!!

I had the hotchkis springs on my car for about 6 months and i hated them. I dont know if mine were faulty, but they dont have any rubber coil wrap on the springs so when they come together over bumps they make a metallic noise. (BTW, when they are fully settled you will have about 6 dead coils in the rear, making the ride very uncomfortable) The spring rate is all off, they dont feel stable and the drop is VERY minimal, but that might be a good thing depending on what your looking for. Its just a little more then the TRD, about .2-.5 inches more. I race my car, so for any weekend racers get Tein, a much better spring which ALOT more R&D backing them up. I WOULD NEVER EVER recommend these springs to anyone. I have tried 3 different sets of springs, TRD, Hotchkis and Tein and once i had Tein i never had to look for something else.

My only complaint is that I wish the rear was a little more of a drop. The front is perfect for me.

No problems out of my Hotchkis springs so far. Indeed there are some dead coils in the rear, but I haven't encountered any noises becasue of this (surprisingly). Personally I feel like the ride was actually a little smoother and the stockers were (extremely surprisingly). The handling was deffinitely improved over stock too, but that should be the case with any shorter springs even if the rates are almost stock.

They obviously weren't fit for JSosa and I would say that if I were racing my xA, then yes I would probably look for springs with a much higher rate, but for the street these are perfect for me. I haven't had any major issues with scraping, but the little black air deflector things have scrapped in a few spots like my front driveway. If you give it a week or so, then you'll probably get used to it and remember to take an angled turn into places that are steep. I haven't had any problems with scraping my exhaust.

Regarding the stock shocks/struts I can't give much of an answer because I've only had mine on about 8k miles, but no problems yet.

^^^^^^ For a good ride hieght i indeed think the hotchkis springs are perfect, when i had them there was no scraping whatsoever (with stock wheels). Now that i have Tein, i do scrape and a little more than i thought it would be, but oh well, some comfort always gets removed when racing....

how did you like the trd springs. i might end up going that way if the hotchkis springs are ____. is it true that after a few weeks they end up being more than just a one inch drop?

I can't speak for TRD since I do not have those springs.

www.intensepower.com has the Eibach Pro-kit for $190. They've got the Hotchkis for $141.92 and the TRD springs for $159.

Yes all springs do have a settling down period. All springs will become a little bit lower as time passes.
