Default 17x7 fitment question

I have a 2005 XB. I really like the Katana Inspire 17x7. I called the place to order and they told me that it would not work on the front without a spacer. He mention something about the brakes there would not be enough clearance. Is what they told me true? I guess I dont understandwhy it wouldnt work. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I believe it means your rims will rub on the caliper. The spacer moves the rim away from the caliper. Some people say it's ok to run spacer ,some say not to, that will have to be your decision. I had a set of Tenzo rims that needed spacers and after 1 month I got rid of the rims. Steering wheel shimmed too much at highway speeds. Hope this helps.

I agree with bobbyboshay, some rims do need spacers to prevent the wheels from hitting the calipers. The statement about the shimmy at highway speeds is again true, at least in my case, I have it on my xA, but I'm too poor right now to buy another set of rims with the right offset, hehehe. Good luck :D
