Default controll arm issue???

for some reason my drivers side front turns in as if there was ice on the road(very sharp), but the opposite side is normal. I have had several alignments and the dealer says "nothing appears to be bent". Is there any reason why this is happening. The car pulls left. I am lowered on tien basic coilovers(height is the same all the way around). I rotated tires on the left side front to rear, and checked to make sure the seat locks were tight. The last alignment i had the tech said that the castor on the drivers side front was off by 2 tenths. He said that if the car still pulled to go to a frame shop. The car is new, and i have never hit anything to bend the frame.

I say take it to a different dealer that knows what they are doing. It should never "pull" period. Something is wrong and it just has'nt been found yet. Good luck and keep us updated with what's found to be wrong.

I took it to a good shop, they laser aligned it, checked the engine cradle, control arms. ball joints, tie rods, wheel base, tire pressure, subframe, drove it (recognized the drift to left), measured the ride height, and ..... the problem seems to be rear driver side toe. The toe is out. I am lowered on tien coilovers, OTG shims in rear. They said that the drift to the left was due to the rear toe, encompassing the sharper turn in (with left hand turns) and the slight increase in body roll as far as the left is concerned. The alignment fixed the straight line, but is there anyway to solve the rear toe. Will new wheels fix this?

Rear toe is not adjustable on the xA/xB. The rear axle must be bent. Someone might be able to tweek it back inline manually (bending it). Maybe Scion will cover it under warranty if it's proven to be out of spec.

Technically yes, but who makes alignment shims for the xB rear? They aren't suppossed to need any.

Any idea on how much a new rear axel would cost for my xa, and is the rear axel the same as the xb. I do not belive that the dealer will cover it under warrenty due to my tien coilovers. I called one of my friends in parts and he told me that it would be a usless argument over in service because all that they would notice is my suspension. Is bending an axel expensive?

Thank You

Check prices at a junk yard. You could prolly get a complete rear suspension for a couple huindred bucks.

I will check and take your suggestions thank you. As a little backround info, the passenger side rear wheel has a flat spot in it and i am debating on wheter or not to buy 4 new ones instead of 1. When i had the rear suspension checked it was reported that nothing was bent. Would one of my OTG shims throw the toe out on that rear driver side? I keep hearing about "progressive adjustment on this rear" what is this about.

The OTG spacers should be true. You could always have them machined a certain amount to bring the rear toe into range.
Progressive??? That's a new one on me???? It's solid so I don't see how it could be adjusted other than side to side by using shims where it pivots.

I found a reputable frame shop, and i am going to see if anything is bent in the morning. I have no clue how anything could be bent since i have never hit anything. Would removing the otg shim do anything for the toe. Since i am running 205's now i really dont need them. hopefully if something is bent it is the hub assembly and nothing more.

It is a production vehicle and mistakes do happen. I hope Toyota will do right by you if it is proven to be out of spec. Just get it in writing to show the dealer or Scion corp.

okay thank you for all your responses and help the issues that were resolved included the OTG shimms. For some reason they either were to tight, or something. So i removed them and the problem with the rear was solved. There was no more feeling of the rear end shifting on the right hand side over bumps, and the toe is now in the green. Secondly my front left was out by 2degrees, not 2 tenths, but 2 whole degrees. I have no idea why the dealership could not notice that during my months of problem alignments. Riley automotive solved the issue with there laser alignment and the camber bolts im running dialed my in to perfection. Know i have to get used to driving a car that steers straight.

I have been having a similar issue where my car always pulls to the right a little, i also have a steering wheel that is a little left when im straight. I have really wide rims and the have little to no room in the back and have rubbed the frame towards the middle of the rim on the inside on the front side. Im ordering the OTG 9mm spacers to kick them out from the frame a little. Any ideas on the pull and the steering wheel being off from center. I took it to the dealer and they charged me a 100 for a 4 wheel alignment and it is still just as bad. they also told me that they cannot get the passenger rear to align and cant due to the rims BUT THEY PUT THEM ON NEW! Very frustrated please help i know someone has some good advise for me. (sorry to thread jack)
