if i were to get these in 17x7 with a 215/50/17 tire would i rub in any way? i'm on tein s-techs right now.

 

Not familiar with the Works, but I believe the 50 series are too large.

I am going through the same questions right now for Motegi 17x7, w/215-45s. Should be 215-40s to stay close to stock diameter..

It depends on the wheel offset also. Seller said 45 offset, but I think they are 42 b/c Motegi does not have 45.

looks like i'm going to go with 215/45. but still iffy about it. which tires are better Falken Ziex ZE 512 or Yokohama AVS ES100 ?

 

Yokohama's, those falken ziex's have poor traction in rain

 

The 215-45 might rub.

I have learned that some fit fine, some needed spacers and maybe grind the casting boss off the swing arm. Depends on rim mfr. and specific tire brand.

I looked at a 17x7 w/215-40 and it was way less than 1/8" to the swingarm. Not sure what offset. That means my 215-45 might need 5~10mm spacers. The OTG hub spacers look good!

I am hoping it fits straight up, but am prepared to get the spacers. Need to push the rears out some anyway.

 

so you're planning to get 215/45 tires also? i was going to get the spacers also..just in case.

the OTG rear spacer shims are the one for me right..because the billet aluminum wheel spacers from OTG require long wheel studs..i think.

they seem similar.

Only reason I am looking at 215-45 is b/c I got a smokin deal on the tires/rims. Chrome Motegis with brand new Falken ZE512s. eBay is your friend!

Worst case is I sell the tires (or throw them away...j/k, they are brand new) and the rims were still about half price. Best case they fit straight up. Or something in between like rear spacers.

GAWBox pointed me to the OTG hub spacers-not wheel spacers. They space the hub out, leaving the studs alone. Wheel spacers leave you with less thread available so if the spacers are thick, you need to change to longer studs.

All this probably is old news to most, but I am learning what needs to be done for an xB first hand. I come from old school muscle and 4x4/trucks. Not a lot of clearance issues there going bigger.

I also want to post my findings so that others can use the info.

I run 17x7 BSA 236's w/215-45-17 not sure what the offset is,but mine do not rub at all and I'm on Eibach sportline's 2" drop.
I'm running Dunlop tires for now.

I don't know if this helps but i just put a set of 16x7 Work Emotions on with +25 offset and they seem to be ok for clearance. There is maybe a quarter inch space at full turn where they would rub if the suspension was compressed at all. But so far everything is looking good. There is no issue with the rear. Oh i have 205/50/16's on the rims. If i went to a 45 i think it would have more clearance but i like the 50's because they fill out the wheel well better. Oh and i'm dropped on TRD springs which is about an inch i think. The +25 pushes the wheels out very nicely.

i disagree with neoxa about the falkens. mine do quite nicley in the rain.

 

and this might not help. i had 17" x 7.5" +30 with tein s-techs but my drop settled a quarter inch more then the recommended. and i was running yokohama es100 with 205 45's. the back was ok. the front i'd rub where the bumper and fender have those 2 bolts. now i'm tein basics with 16" x 8.5" +32 with falken ze512 215 50's, now the front doesn't rub but the rear is rubbing on the fenders when i get some good dips that i hit.
