Default XA Wheel fitment? (Pics enclosed) 18x8.5 18x9.5

Before anyone throws out the search comment I have looked and found nothing. Been searching for about 2 weeks now. My question is will 18x8.5 +35 offset and 18x9.5 + 35 offset work on a 2006 Scion Xa. In all honesty i wouldn't mind about a 1/2 inch of stick out. Car has not been lowered as of yet, because i'm trying to figure out any fitment issues with wheels and tires first. Please help by providing insight. I know that an XB owner was able to get away with these same mearurments on his Xb, now i am wondering if i will be able to do the same. I know that he used 15mm spacers for this to work...

Thanks for any and all help!!!!

bet thing i can say is put them on your xa and look at the clearance, then you can think of what type of springs to get

you are very likely to snap your lug studs if you use a 15mm spacer. the biggest spacer you can safely use is 5mm. the hubcentric ring needs to support the rim, not the lugs. and adding 15mm to them will stress them badly. I've seen numerous cars sitting with broken wheel studs because of either using a spacer or the wrong size hubcentric ring.

i have 18x8.5 on my XA and there is no rubbing at all, even at full lock. there looks to be room for an 18x9.5 if you get a beefy tire. my 215-35zr18's wouldn't fit on a 9.5 rim but maybe they make a 225-35zr18

who says you need to use the stock wheels studs and who said you had to use a wheel spacer? OTG makes shims ya know does behind the whole hub to push the whole assembly out. they are really easy to put on as well. good luck with your wheel choice

you wont need shims with a 9.5" wide wheel. it will go all the way to the fender - maybe a little more

^^^^ I was talking about if there is rubbing issue. mkiv94tt said the xB owner used 15mm wheel spacers and you (awdisuzu) said you have seen many a vehical with snapped lugs becaused they used wheel spacers.
I know you wont need shims cause a 9.5" tire will be fairly flush but its the SAFER alternative to spacers. Just a fact.

**UPDATE**

Wheels are in, and i test fitted today! Not sure if anyone else out there is running 18x9.5's in the rear on an XA, However for those of you wondering. Yes it is possible, :D For now, i'm taking the project slow, sourcing proper width, now i'm searching for proper lugs, and then proper tire size and lastly, suspension drop. Once it's all complete, i will post up some pics...

Thanks,
Dan

I'm actually starting to realize how lame this site is or is turning into Only one post after my updated post regarding fitment. Not to mention, nobody out there is interested in attempting new projects on their own XA's... or at least it appears that those who are are limited in numbers... Guess i'm more used to forums which actually have members who are interested in communicating and interacting with one another.

Nuvs,
I'll post updated pics as soon as everything is installed.
Thanks,

Dan

hey dude ... please don't sulk in .... cheer up .. i guess we kinda adopted the brain storming method.
As for mods ... really wish you luck as I am a modder as well but you know .. i just got me car and cash flow is a little stagnant for the time being ...
My wish list is very long ... but i hope to shorten it little by little.
I myself went into a simple mod of changing my spreakers ... got the base done ... last night I opened up the doors ... drilled the first stock speaker out .... was extremely cautious not t scratch the body .... had to redo the wiring to fit the new speakers ... fixed the speakers in ... and lucky me, i tested it before going any further ... the sound was disgusting !!!!!!
here i go .... 2 hours hard work at night after a hectic day ... resultless !!!
But you know .. i'm not discouraged as I know it's nothing wrong with the speakers .. just under powered !
Experience gained ... i can now easily change the other speakers in less time and also acquired the techniques to really get the job done with confidence !

Cheer up ... we all are modders !

This is true...we are modders on a budget...LOL!

But if it is any consolation, posts like this are actually extremely helpful to the newbies like me. What with everyone brainstorming, putting out new ideas, and different features and things to look for, it helps me get a better understanding of our cars.

It also helps to know that we can try new things, and even though they might not always be perfect, its better than nothing!

Tires are my first major mod, and since I am currently shopping around, this post has actually helped tremendously! Now, I have a better idea of how to go about this. Thanx!

:D

Don't get me wrong, i'm all about the budget. But at the same time, some group effort on everyones part is always welcome and always encouraged on the other forums i come from... This little car has great potential and a very cost effective market. My supra involved 8yrs of hard work along with collaborations from all 50 states. I was hoping to be able to incorporate the same ideas with my Xa. Although my auto/building skills have developed quite a bit over the years, we always need help and direction. I'm very anxcious to complete the exterior and post some pics and get some reviews. My hope is to stray away from the typical looks and gain something a bit more aggressive in a gradual amount of time... We'll see....

Thanks,
Dan
