Default stock rim question (pic)

noob question here but what is this for and if i can take it off? I thought about putting trim ring on but i decided to try and put decal stip on the rim and see how it looks. this thing is in the way though and dont know if i shoud take it off or not. help please

Its a wheel weight used to balance your tires.
Don't take it off.

You can take it off but, will have to balance the wheel and have the weights put on the inside

so its there so it makes the wheel balance or they just put it there to let you know that it is balanced?? i dont get it

It makes the wheel balanced. Look at some other wheels, and you will see different sizes.

oh yeah those are decals btw and i got the idea from this pic
i was going to go with trim rings but i thought id give this one a try first

i use to own a decal business so i printed a strip of vinyl and put them on. That idea really came from motorcycles having reflective strips on the rim.

Nice idea but unsure how the vinyl will hold up to the heat. It tends to wrinkle up after awhile. I run stainless trim rings, chrome lugs and chrome center caps. They look just like factory rally rims.
