Default what size tires on 17s?

well im trying to decide if i should get rims and tires or just new tires for the stockers. im looking at getting some 17s, should i go with a standard 205/40/17? or should i go with a beefier tire like a 205/45/17 or a 215/45/17 right the now the car is lowered on df210 springs and trd struts

thanks

i would go with the 205/40/17 tire. the 45 would be a lil big on there with the drop.

215/40/17 is closer to the stock size.....close enough you should not really see any variance with you spedo. I have the 205/40/17 and wish I had got the 215's. The 215's will give you a little more cushion with the slightly taller sidewalls.

depending on how much driving you do. I drive a lot so, i would chose 215/40/17.

X2 I have 215/45's and whish I hadn't gotten them because of OTG rubbing issues when on the lowering springs. Other than that they are great on the stock springs. Oh BTW, 205/45's are also acceptable. Just avoid 205/40's cause they are under weight rated for the xB. Tire Rack won't even sell them to ya if they know they are going on an xB.!

I don't think the 215 vs. 205 has anything to do with sidewall height. These #'s are refering to the mm width of the tire.

45's vs 40's will give you extra sidewall.

215/40 has a slightly taller sidewall than 205/40. Use this calculator and see.

That's an awesome wheel/tire calc. Better than that old Norwegian one...

i'm such a fan of 215/45. but i like the big tire look so it might just be me. the ride is great and on my xa i have no problems. my friends xb on s techs has the same size tire on his wheels and he never rubs on anything.

I thought so! Glad you enjoy it. I use it for all my tire questions.

215/40 R17 is +2 sizing over stock: no odometer, speedometer, or wheel sensor changes. Fits/rides nicely w/o any rubbing or issues.
